This Sucked but I think I got Lucky

I was leaving work earlier tonight and decided to step into the new 3.5 while i had a good and safe place to do so. I baby my max 19 times out of 20 that i drive it and i take great care of it. Everything is going fine when i missed third and hit first. I clutched as soon as I realized what I had done but the revs shot up momentarily. The car did not turn off, no oil or cel light, and no smoke\sounds. I dont know if I am just paranoid about the whole incident but I think the car isnt running 'right.' I dont hear any strange noises but it feels to be vibrating roughly and slightly running differently. I have driven a standard for several years and have never done that, I know it happens and many of us may or may not have had that happen. But my question is, what can I look at or check to ensure that there are no problems? I figure if there was a major problem, I would obviously be able to tell, but in the midst of it happening I was freaked out and possibly convinced myself that it was not running correctly. Any ideas?

Not sure if this has anything to do with what happened but i've noticed when i hit the gas (only when in gear) there is a constant whine that increases as speed increases. Its not the standard MT whine, but a higher pitched whine during acceleration and holding a steady speed. This just started tonight. Any help appreciated

I would get on ebay and pick up a factory service manual for the 02 maxima (If you really want, I could send you the pdfs) and read through it looking for testing procedures you can perform without CONSULT-II.

Well I have talked to many people who have had this happen and with the majority of them everything came out okay. I'm not too worried about it cause I would definitely know if something was majorly wrong, but just the fact that I did it bothered me. I am going to see if anyone else did so and see what they experienced afterwards. Thanks though,

The same thing just happened to me yesterday! Did you find out what it is? Has it gotten worse or did it go away?

I dont own the car anymore but to answer your question the "whine" or whatever you want to call it went away. I never had any tranny problems after that. It was scary when it happened but over time the sound went away. I had it looked at by Nissan and they didnt seem to think much of it. From my personal experience i wouldnt worry about it unless symptoms get worse.
