Anyone know the part no. for KS wiring harness?? Still problems after making my own!

One of the Nissan dealers that the Toronto maxima club deals with told me that I cannot order an OEM KS (intermediate) harness. They proceeded to sell me some injector wiring which uses the same clip as the KS. Cool..

I take off the old harness (busted) and proceed to take it apart just to make sure what is going on in there. From the KS end there is a single wire but from the end that connects to the main wiring harness there is two wires.

I took apart the harness and found the worst hack job ever IMO, I hope it wasn't OEM but I can't say for sure. Anyway, one wire (speaker wire) went straight through to the KS and the other was attached to a fine metal mesh that surrounded the speaker wire. I am unsure as to what that is for but went ahead and made my own.

Anyway the KS is still coming on, at this point I am not sure if it is the harness or the KS. I would like to get some confirmation on whether the harness is a simple straight wire or the mesh was some type of ground or what??

The KS is till coming on If you mean CEL, then it's probably not your KS, if it's JUST the ghost code then, why don't you pony up the 20$ for the harness? www.pinnaclenissan.com

Considering 1/2 the maxima population reports KS problems etc.. and a bad KS affects your performance bigtime it comes under advanced performance Son....

NmexMax - Pinnalce has no listing for the KS harness based on searching for "knock". Yes the CEL is coming on but that is the VSS trigerring that, the KS is throwing the ghost code (Friend has a scanner)

This has nothing to do with advanced performance. The KS sensor is a maintenance item and as such it belongs in the 4th generation forum. I supposed everone with MAF or o2 sensor issues should post in here too? WRONG!!!!!

NmexMAX you know better.

Leave the freakin OEM hackjob alone, it serves its purpose, dont go trying to rig it up.

Just buy the harness at your local dealership, something like 15 bucks US. I tried to splice/f*ck with the harness and it threw a code. Bought a new harness and now the car pulls like it's supposed to (i.e 2nd gear wheelspin is back). 15 bucks well spent

And don't ever, ever touch that harness again. Once the KS and harness have both been changed, I wouldn't touch either of those with a ten foot pole. The ECU loves to pull timing for any reason imaginable.

First off IMO creating any kind of wiring harness doesn't fall under general maintenance... but advanced motor performance. Unless there is a wiring forum somewhere?? lol

Sober - The OEM one is busted hence me saying busted in the original post. The dealer informs me there are no WH's available hence me making one.

Fanatic what do you want for yours?

Jclaw - Do you know the part number for that harness?

The fine wire mesh around the KS harness is the electromagnetic interference shield. This prevents false KS signals caused by stray EM fields created by ignition coils and the alternator.

That should be a ground which acts like a shield for the signal from the KS.

Anyone know the typical voltage output from the KS? and what are the limits that throw the KS code?

Ok well I ended up making a harness that works perfectly so the KS is all good.

95MaxSE - Check the KS only by logging your ignition advance (only reliable way)
