LEDs in Turn Signal Housing?

I'm trying to make the front of my car a more crisp white color and the turn signal bulbs are just awful...they are a yellow/green/offwhite color with the Polarg bulbs in them and I need something straight white so I guess my only option is LEDs. Do you guys know of any LEDs that will light up the housing and not just shoot a straight beam like most LEDs? Also, I don't want my blinker to be 2x speed so I need some kind of a load resistor thing...what does that involve? I assume it's not too difficult or time consuming? Thanks.

...or you could just put a light coat of silver enamel spray paint on the bulbs...then they would be "invisible" when off and would still light up normally...

Most white LEDs will shine a purple-ish color as opposed to just white. In order to run LEDs without having it hyperflash, you need load resistors. Installing them is easy, simply splice them to the power and ground wire of the turn signal, and then place the resistors somewhere where it won't melt anything as they get really hot. Done deal

well im not sure about MA, but i know in some states the front turn signals must emit either amber OR White.

Any vehicle may be equipped and, when required under s. 316.222(2), shall be equipped with electric turn signals which shall indicate an intention to turn by flashing lights showing to the front and rear of a vehicle or on a combination of vehicles on the side of the vehicle or combination toward which the turn is to be made. The lamps showing to the front shall be mounted on the same level and as widely spaced laterally as practicable and, when signaling, shall emit white or amber light.

I put regular platinum bulbs. I bought them at pepboys. You couldn't see them unless you use the blinker......

I've had the hyper white ones from autolumination for almost a year down driving around in the DC metro area, & i've only been stopped once by this stupid cop who tried to tell me that my lights were blue. I had to open my hood and pull them out just to prove otherwise, she let me go after that. But it does give the car a better look if you have HID's or a nice set of PIAA's to go with it.

No they are not, maybe our eyes are different but there is no such thing as a WHITE LED. Every white LED has some blue/purple to it. I've ordered many LEDs from their site and you can disagree with me, I still say white LEDs in general shine a white beam with blue/purple surround like below.

in my experience, autolumination 'white' LEDs seem to be the MOST purple....idk what kind of stuff you're smoking but i've had those and several others, and every single one has either a hint or an obvious sign of purple in them...

MMMMM LEDs

As said with LEDs in front or rear signals you need load resistors.

Off topic:
n3985, I just bought some 194s from autolumination. How are the white reds? Brighter than polarg? Better (true) white and red color?

White reds? If you mean white AND red, then yes, the white LEDs are brighter than Polarg/Piaa 194 bulbs since they are not filtered to shine white. BUT, the case with white LEDs is that they are not just white, it has blue and purple mixed in. Easiest way to describe it would be 8000k HID color, while Polarg/Piaa white bulbs are 4300k HID color. As for the red, it too is brighter since every regular red light bulb is really dim, while the LEDs are nice and bright.

to answer your question about the 194s from autolumination: NO! they are extreeeemly dim...they also have a purple hue...i love autolumination and still continue to buy from them, but will not buy their 194 LEDs anymore....when i put those in my doors and the LED 'festoon' bulb in my dome light, i couldn't even tell the lights were on at night they were so dim...they light up about 3 inches in front (and ONLY in front) of them, so if you're looking for light output, you got the wrong bulbs...

Which 194s did yoy buy? I have 9-LED blue in the doors which are bright, and 6-LED 3175 in my dome which is also pretty bright. If you want a blue 3175 bulb in blue with 6-5mm LEDs, I am selling them for $5 shipped.
