ps2 in glovebox, power invertor, wiring help
I just put a ps2 in my glovebox (the new slim kind) and i was wondering how i should wire it up, im going to buy a power adapter that plugs into my cig lighter (but you wont see any of that) and was gonna unhook my cig lighter (the wires) from whatever it is hooked up to
the reason for this is because i wanna have it so the power invertor is on when the key is in the ON position (my 3rd gen has ACC, ON, and START), but I also want it to stay on while the car is being started (so it doesn't just shut off for a second) and was wondering if anyone knew how I should wire up my cig lighter for it to work like this
thanks!

depending on the inverter you use, it may need to be reset every time you cycle the ignition. Mine was like that.
I'd check the power draw on the inverter when it isn't powering anything, and then relay the output side of the inverter.

Are your power inverter going to survive engine crank? Thing is, when you crank your car, the voltage drops, which might causes the inverter to turn off, this negating your whole effort. I hope you did run a wire straight from the battery, and not off the wires that are already in the car, or you're asking for a world of hurt.

Yep, I'm with him Isolate the circuit as much as you can, I would suggest useing the glovebox light + for a relay for the inverter. That way it is only receiving power when it is going to be used.

- get that direct batt wire (fused), add relay to cut off when ign key off.
- install small (3Ah?) extra batt near u complicator for backup. Diode into the supply wire to block reverse flow durin crank. This in case dropoff still occurs.
Instead of using an inverter and going through the AC adaptor that comes with the PS2 which is VERY inefficient, you should make your own 12V DC - 8.5V DC converter and find a plug that will plug directly into the PS2 from that. That wouldn't use any more power than a factory standard CD player. That is by far the best way to go.

Another +++issue: Inverters total galvanic isolation from starter spikes ...
Otherwise, yes, leaner is mostly better.
