From the looks of the damage, I'll wager it will be totalled out.

Sucks man, sorry to hear that, but I don't see much moisture on the road in the pic

sorry to see that happen, but things could definently get worst, and its good that you came out unscaved. now its time to start searching for a 5.5 6pd

oh, not to sound like an ***, but that looks like a residential area, which is like 25mph, you must have been going pretty fast to spin out in the rain...

I'm glad to see you made it out alright...

...but in all seriousness, you must have been hauling a'ss to total your car to that extent. My brother spun out in the rain doing 30mph and he had not 25% of the damage you have to your car.

if i were you i'de prefer to have the car totaled than fixed. because it'll never drive the same after it gets repaired with that much damage.

At least you're okay, that's the important part.

By the looks of it, your car is totalled. I was in a rear-ender a couple years back where they literally replaced my entire trunk floor and re-painted half of the car (both rear fenders were slightly damaged) - Even that was above $8k in damages.

I'm sorry, but you were definitely going faster than 28-30 mph. We'll never know for sure, but at least be honest with yourself. On that note, sorry for your luck, at least you weren't hurt or hurt anyone else. Hopefully, you've learned something from this. And good luck with finding another car.

Damn man, that was one sexy black maxima. Well, if I was you, Tow it out the junkyard and get it to your house taken off what you want because most likely that car is totalled.. That rear is going to need to be replaced by getting another max from the junkyard and cutting the whole rear piece off, and putting it on yours.. Going to be ALOT of money involved..

looks like a residential area. definitely shouldn't have been going as fast as you were, the damage looks closer to a 40 mph collision. lucky you didn't hit a car, house, or person.

hindsight is 20/20 though and we've all made mistakes or had close calls, unfortunately you had to learn the hard way. good thing is it looks like you'll be able to re-use most of your mods and wheels.

As a black max driver, I'm sorry for your loss Yeah, I'd ****** all those aftermarket parts up. There's only one thing to do: get another one

It begins! How much for the wheels!

Probably the mail box.

Sorry about the loss, must have been rough. As others have said, that seems like some pretty extensive damage for 30 MPH.

Same here, Rear-ended, $8K worth. adjuster told me to total out repairs have to exceed 70% of book value. Here is where we get screwed. To fix was $8K, book value was $17K, trade in value was $13K. So at least had she done $12K damage, I would have got my $17K + whatever I paid for mods, or at least part of it, so keep you receipts!

On the flip side, If I get hit again by yet another idiot, and they do more than $3-4K damage, then they will total it because of the previous hit.

BTW, I have not been able to spin out my FWD max by accident. The only way I have spun out is "snow drifting" with the parking brake. Your fronts would have had to grip, and the back end come loose. You were either goofing around, going more than 30, or were driving on bald rear tires.

BULL****, a car doesn't spin out by going straight at 28 MPH on a flat wet road, you did something stupid and ended up wrecking.

Good job lying though.

I know it rained a lot here yesterday...but the only way you were going 28-30 MPH and accomplished that much damage is if you looked at the speedo after you hit something (and it slowed you down). I would agree that looks like 40MPH damage. The only thing worse than wrecking your car is not being honest about the speed. Good to hear you are okay, but it looks like an expensive lesson.

You can spin out because of oil on the road also. I was going about 20 mph up a ramp on a 95+ degree sunny day when the back end of the max spun out on me, at first I thought it was the rsb(understeer) because I installed it the week before, then I thought I had a flat; when I got out the car to check everything out, I touched my tires and the road and it was oil all over them. Cars that were coming up behind me had a hard time getting up the ramp, I guess the oil leakage from previous vehicles built up over time. The next day when I came up the same ramp, they had cat litter all over the road, I guess alot of people complained. Glad you are ok and I hope you can save the Max.

I still don't - nor ever will - believe that he was only doing 28mph.

It doesn't matter much now as to how fast he was going or what "could have happened" The young guy wrecked his baby.... have some compassion. How do you think you would feel.... pretty damn stupid given the same situation. I've had many close calls and some real head bangers and looking back it was always because of some stupid move or action on my part. Hey roll4life look at this as an opportunity to start on a new car and not make all the mistakes that you may have made on the crashed one. Sorry to hear about the crash and sometimes life's lessons are learned the hard way.... so to speak.

I suppose that damage could have been from about 30-35mph AT the time he hit the hydrant. But he's backwards. So he was probably going 40mph+, spun, hit the brakes and when he finally hit the hydrant, he was close to 30mph or whatever.

Sorry to say but that car is totalled. Way beyond totalled really. 2000 maxima goes for what? $10 grand? That damage is at LEAST $8-$15 worth of damage.

is it true that the insurance company wont give me anything for the car if they see the sway bars and new struts/springs and all the mods? should i just let everything stay how it is or should i take stuff off?

They probably won't factor your mods in when they cut the check, but those mods shouldn't disqualify you for coverage.
