Longest Lasting Tire

I had the GoodYear Eagle RSA's I believe on my 2K max for a year and they have worn out. I am not that hard on my car and this really pissed me off. Is this normal for those tires?

I really just want an all season tire that is not too expensive and that lasts a long time. I really don't care about performance just that it will hold up and isn't that expensive. I know winter is coming up so I really need to do this soon... any thoughts?

Did you ever check the tire pressure? I just bought new tires last week. My OEM Goodyear Eagle RSAs had been on the car for 61K, mostly highway miles, and almost 11 years. They would have lasted another 5K and I would have kept them over the winter (as I drove drive the car much then) if I hadn't got a super deal on a set of Yokohama Avid H4S tires at bargain basement prices.

If performance isn't an issue, buy something like Michelin Hydroedge. They are only T-rated but should last 80,000 miles if you keep the tires inflated and rotated and don't drive the car like you stole it. Alternatively consider Yokohama Avid TRZ, also T-rated and good for 80K. I suspect the Hydroedges would be a better rain tire.

Also consider BF Goodrich Traction TAs with an H-rating. They are superior in rain, snow and dry conditions but are rated at 60K.

anything will last longer than RSAs. Mine lasted 10k. of course tread wa okay, but they've been splitting for 6th gens. I'm finished with goodyear. Go to TireRack.com. Then you can compare performance and tread life against prices. Some really good reviews as well. How I drive, I'm going performance and am limited to about 3 choices with these 18s, all about 1000 a set

Camp Hill huh? you'll have to come around if we have another Harrisburg meet, or roll down to Philly with us.

Maybe I misread the post, but 11 years on the same tires? If that's true, that's really pushing it. Even if there's still a decent amount of tread left, the rubber is probably not in the best shape at that age, taking into account enviromental factors that add to the deterioration of the compound. Basic stuff like heat, moisture, sunlight even air. Many manufacturers recommend replacing your tires, regardless of wear, after 6 years (Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Chrysler, Ford, Mazda etc.)

Any tire will last longer if you keep the pressure correct and rotate them every 4-6k miles.
