I guess it really depends on how much snow you get. In any case, it seems to me that when you drop the max reasonably like you're talking about, it gets it down to the same level (I think) as a 3 series BMW- and you see tons of these around in winter.

Tires play more of a role in winter snow driving then your suspension does.

Of course if your slammed to the ground, you'll have clearance issues when the snow gets deep.

what ever you do if you get coil overs dont make the mistake i did and wait til the 3rd snow to raise it up just to find out the perches are frozen with muck and slush and wont budge... if you get springs youll be fine as the maxima is a high rider anyway.

Any snow that's going to really incapacitate your car would probably do so regardless of your drop. Like Tom said, it has more to do with the tires than anything else.

If you don't mind your front bumper plowing a little bit of snow, then I wouldn't worry too much.

this is pretty common sense...of course if your lower its gonna be harder to get around in the snow...TIRES like everyone else said are the most imp., THAN comes suspension... I dont think there is much difference between coilovers and springs..that wont make a difference in the snow or for anything...it just depends on how low you really are...if your gonna get a coilover, get a quality coilover, plus its adjustable height

i'm dropped on s-techs and this will be my first winter. no lip kit, so not ridiculously low, but low none the less. I'll update on how it goes later.

A lowered car is no problem in the snow. I have a 2" drop up here in northern Michigan. Its the tires that make the difference. Just get some Blizzaks and you will be fine The onlytime I have problems is if there is 8" or more of real snow (not lake effect) on the ground. At that point you really shouldn't be out on the roads anyway.

If you only want around 1.5 get h techs, they are 1.25 and you shouldn't really have any issues. With coilovers I would say raise them up before the weather gets bad.
