Trunk Lid Swap?

I read this in the sticky (yes I read the sticky's ) but, people were talking about entire rear ends.

I just want some 97 - 99 tails. I know the angel is diff on the trunk lid, so simple yes or no, can I put a 97 - 99 trunk lid in my 95 then fit 97 - 99 tail lights? If yes, will it close right (line up with the latch? Thanks

yes, you can, it will close right, and look right. lining up the latch depends on your skills. even if you are trying to replace a 95-96 trunk lid, you still have to play with it a little to line up. same goes to 97-99 trunk lids. you can pm cumalot, he did his, i think it looks really nice.

Thanks, I figured it would, just wanted to be sure before I went to "pull-a-part". I was willing to mod the latch, but this sounds great, thanks again

I swapped lids and everything was just about perfect. I didnt really go about it trying to make sure everything lined up, but everything did while I tried to balance the lid in one hand and put the bolt in with the other.

One thing is my latch with close with the minimalist effort, but the trunk release doesnt work. I need the 97 latch to make it all work like stock again.

I put a 97 "styled" trunk on and everything fits fine. I used my 96 latch as well.

I'll just pull the latch too then. Thanks. I don't even have the cable hooked up to my key on my trunk now. I can only use the button on the door / keyless, kinda wanna keep it that way.

I'd pull the latch just in case, better to have and not need than to need and not have.

i agree, i did he swap and fiddled for hours tryin to get it to lock, then i decided to go back to the yard and pulled the latch off, i replaced my latch in less than 10 mins and everything locked with no probs. might as well get the latch while you're there, esp if the yard is a great distance, lol i had to ghetto tie my trunk closed so i could drive there.

lol, I was gonna get one b4 anyone said anything. It's not that the yard is far, just that ppl back there are nuts, they're all tring to steal parts, so if they see you near them, they stand over top of ya till you move.
