95 Max won't start after installing new starter~!

Just hoping some of you can suggest some possible problems so I know what I will be facing when bringing the car to the shop. It's a 95 with 152k, seems to be in good shape though... Car was taking a few tries to turn over, then wouldn't turn over at all. Battery is good, but when turned to on the car makes no sounds. Replaced the starter and still nothing. Dissabled battery and car is sitting.. Any ideas of problems that could give me NOTHING (except battery) with a 152k miles on it..??? Thanks for any help...
Could it need a new ignition???

thanks... i was thinking that it must be in the ignition since turning the key works doing everything until the final turn to crank it over, non-responsive tho.. any idea what that will cost installed?? thanks

easy to check ..... hook a test light to the small wire that goes to the starter. Turn the ing to start. If the light comes on then you have a defective starter. If you have no light you need a ing switch. I just replaced mine a few weeks ago. takes less than 30mins to replace and the part is around $30

just curious, becuase i'm having a starting problem.
is it like your car wont crank?
everything turns on in my car and when i go to turn it, the relay's click in the engine bay but nothing else happens. its getting really bad and now i might try 10 times before it actually cranks and turns over.
today after it did it, it idled at like 1500 rpm for a second before dropping to 1000.
anyway, jsut wondering if anyone had any ideas about this one.
and Z32drifter, what small wire are you talking about? if i could check this easily i will.

I had the same thing. Turn the key as far as it goes as if you trying to crank the starter motor. Wiggle the key up and down, do not keep turning off and on. If your car then starts then it is the switch. Very simple to replace, you need to undo the brace bar under the steering column to get to the last screws but very easy. I got the switch from an online vendor, about $25, even Nissan only charges about $35, Autozone and Carquest are apparently more!

k well i havent tested it many times but if i turn the key all the way and then hold it and move it slightly i think i can get it to start. i'm not positive if that is in fact making it start or if just holding it all the way is.

i think the wire that goes from the ignition switch to the starter relay is black with a white stripe. from the relay to the starter solenoid is black with a yellow stripe on a manual trans and black with a red stripe on an auto trans. besides the ignition switch, check the switch that keeps you from starting the car while the auto trans is in drive and the similiar switch on the clutch for manual trans.
