Nissan Stereo Upgrade

I'm going to swap my original stereo for a higher end nissan stereo from a junk yard. My current stereo is the most basic (AM/FM cassette) and the station frequency display is broken. I'd like to find a nissan stereo with a cd player. Does anyone know whether the stock wiring from my basic 4th Gen GXE will work for a higher end nissan stereo from a 4th Gen SE or GLE? I want to keep this swap simple.

Your best bet is just to buy a new headunit(aftermarket)

lol don't bother, unless you want more problems. just go aftermarket, they will always be better than just about anything stock, when you pick the right deck.

for posting in audio forums.

If you find one that's NOT bose, it should work.

You don't want the Bose stereo, it will only give you problems. The display will quit working along with the buttons and ***** and the amplifiers tend to go out leaving you with speakers that don't work all of the time. Sure they sound nice but aftermarket is still much better and won't give you near the amount of problems that the stock unit will.

Does the stock bose get messed up if you crank the volume up or does it do it even if you keep the volume down?

My stock bose is working perfectly. I'm not going to change it because it will only increase the risk of getting stolen.

My stock Bose is working perfectly well, too, and I have never experienced any problems with the system and I've owned the car since day 1.
