I finally got my 4th gen. Its a 98 5 speed, black on black with all the options. 102k on her and i picked it up from a used car lot where they replaced the oxygen sensor (#1), knock sensor, evap valve, and put new front pads on...and guess what I LOVE THIS CAR. the interior styling is amazing compared to my 92 which is currently rotting away in my driveway. The matience done at the dealership was nice as those sensors seem to go around 100k. It does have the orignal clutch so I will probly be replacing that shortly seeing as how im still learning how to drive a stick. my future mods include Y-pipe, tint, brushed alum dash (wood grain is fallin apart), and possibly an air intake once i find out whether u do in deed lose low end power. however my main mod will be keeping this car clean and maintained. I still gota sell my 92 and i will be putting a new fuel pump in this weekend and also run some sea foam threw the motor to try and get her to run a little smoother. Its got its fair share of scratches but its overall really clean, As u can see the rear bumper is a little skuffed

Where you at in Hingham?
Find somewhere flat in Hingham, like by the cemetary near the barbershop, (the only big parking lot near downtown Hingham, kind of behind the fruit center) and just let out your left foot......slowly. Nissan's in general won't stall when you do this, don't do anything with the gas, just find the friction point of the clutch with your left foot. People have original clutches that last longer than that, so if that's what you want to do (make it last) just be smooth.
After you get good at that, and want to challenge yourself, go back up 3A go around the rotary and hang a right (don't go towards Nantasket) and about a mile up the road on your right is Rockwood Rd. Follow that road for a little while until you get to Andrew's Isle (on your right), go right and go down that road (and I mean down). You can practice letting out your clutch on a hill all you want on that road. You get through that, you'll be a pro.

question......... kinda off topic, and i swear this is not a post jack, but does anyone know why the wood goes over the a/c controls and vents in some maximas and doesnt in others, like mine. is it the wood on an se that goes that far up or is it an aftermarket wood applicae? it sounds more like the latter from the blurb he wrote. i know its not the year cuz mine is a 98 too. just curious. thanks.

btw- sweet lookin car man. i hope it brings you loads of happiness which it will and welcome to the org.

Nice find man! You will be the envy of many having a rare 5 speed. Enjoy it! I live near Hingham, maybe I'll see you around.

I could be wrong but I believe the wood over the A/C controls comes off an I30 and is likely a mod the max owner did

Nice car! You've got to get that bumper painted, however.

you are correct since as you can see the window switch isn't wood also. In my i30, the ac vents n everything along with the window swtiches are wood also and also have chrome door handles. dunno why they're so special, but i guess it makes the car look a lil different

looks like mine when i bought it, minus the nice leather , and the scratched bumper. good find.

I also noticed you have wooden dash.. i had it too, but i have an SE, just like you... are there that many people putting dash kits on their cars? SE's come with black dash (and car-color door handles), and that car cannot be a GLE because its a 5 spd, or a GXE cus it has leather and foglights. did some of the SE's come with wood dash or something??
