PCV location (1993).

Hi,

Where is the PCV (valve) located on the engine? I bought a replacement and wish to install it (for the first time at 130K km), but can't find the darn thing.

Chris...

I'm sorry, not quite sure, but the engine is the slow one (two valves per cylinder).

You got a vg motor...

it's gray/silver in color.
looking from the front..it's upper right of the intake manifold (where it says 3000 SHOC) or something like that. there's a hose connected to it. you have to basically disconnect the hose and unscrew the PCV valve out. if you know where the coolant bleeder screw/bolt is..it's right next to it.

Valve qty does not define that. Power comes from gas & some pressurized air explosions. That qty defines pwr. So get more air in, ECU injects more gas, get more pwr out.

PCV? Pwr How? Check the link.

Sorry, it was just my attempt at humour, valves = power.

Anyhow, thanks for the location of pcv info. I kept looking for a black one as the one I purchased is black?!

Thanks again!

just look for a black hose that comes out from the top of the rear valve cover and into the intake plenum and u'll c it. once u find it just unscrew it out and install new one and put the hose back on it with clamp.

If the PCV valve on the VE were that easy to get to, I would've replaced it long ago. Wished it were in the same place as on the VG.

Cleaning the PCV valve with injector cleaner achieves exact same effect as replacing - frees up its movement - enough for it to work perfect.

Could one of you show a picture of the location of the PCV Valve on a VE. Also what would be the steps to cleaning it?

Thanks Alot.

That's VE motor, dude, the asker has VG.

VG: stand at the driver fendor side and look at the intake plenum. The back of the intake plenum closer to you is connected to the red valve cover with a thick rubber hose shaped as S. The hose attaches to the plenum with the PCV valve.

So that small valve on the backside of the engine is it? Just spray carb cleaner on it & wipe with a rag? Thanks MyGreenMax94.

To clean it you need to take it off and spray inside of it...But really though,as cheap as that part is and the trouble it will take to get it off..I would just replace it with a new one...
