Flickering Boses Lights

This morning it was raining, so I had my headlights on, and within a few minutes of turning them on, the lights in my bose stereo & my auto climate control started to flicker from bright to dim, like I was turning my headlights on and off quickly.

Any ideas? Its been a few months since I've taken out the stereo & ac control... and they both work fine otherwise, so I don't think its a loose connection at the back of the units.

Anybody see this?

That has happened to me once or twice during the 5yrs I've own my Max. I've never bothered tracking down the problem. I would recommend just leaving it alone until it happens all the time (i.e. you can reproduce it), otherwise you'll never be able to track down the root cause.

this happens to my dad's chrylser a lot. The "fix" seems to be with the dimmer switch. you know how when you put it to full brightness and then click it in place? UN-click the dimmer and leave it as bright as possible. that seems to be the easiest fix. let me know if it works

This started happening to my Bose HU the other day too! Not the climate control though, just the Bose. I have red LEDs installed in my Bose HU but it's a mod I did quite a while ago so it's nothing I did wrong with that, and what's even more odd is that it's only ONE LED that is flickering (the one for the FF button). All the others operate just as they should. Any ideas before I open it up and try to figure out what's going on?

i had my climate controls with leds too. one started flickering. ended up being a bad led. sometimes a bad led can squeeze in there. it coudl also be a weak solder point?

Thanks yeah that's what I think it probably is too. I was hoping not to have to pull everything apart again but I guess I have no choice unless I want to leave it like that. Maybe I'll just leave it and wait until I decide to get a new HU, then I'll fix the LED before selling it. Hey if anyone on the org wants a WORKING Bose HU out of a '97 Max with red LEDs already installed PM me an offer!
