Hard to install keyless entry on 95 maxima?

I bought my maxima used without keyless entry... now I want it really badly for the winter. Has anyone added it? If so, is it hard to install? Any popular choices?
thanks in adv.

what trim is your max? It might already have keyless. If not, just wire it in to the power locks.

When i gutted my trunk, there was a little plugin box on the right, just inside the quarter panel. Thats the keyless entry module, look for a junker, find that box, buy some ebay remotes, and have fun

here's the proceedure for programming stock remotes.

How to Program OEM Alarm Key Fob Remote

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Couldn't find this anywhere and thought it might be handy to post.

To program the remote(s) follow this procedure

1. Close and lock all doors with power door lock switch on driver's door.

2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition more than 6 times within 10 seconds. The hazard warning lamps (both turn signals) will then flash twice and the original codes will be cleared.

3. Turn ignition key to "ACC" position.

4. Push the "Lock" button on the new remote controller once. At this time, the car learns the new ID code. The hazard warning lamps (both turn signals) will then flash twice.

For additional remotes continue below else go to step 9

5. If you need to activate additional remote controllers, manually unlock the driver's door only then lock again with door lock ****.

6. Push lock button on the additional remote controller once.

7. Hazard warning lamps (both turn signals) will then flash twice and additional remote is programmed.

8. For additional remotes, go back to step 5.

9. Open driver's door to exit programming state when done.

NOTE: Only a maximum of 4 remotes can be programmed to any ONE car.

Ok, I've got the keyless entry module near the power antenna. The reason I couldn't do the hazard light test is because nothing power related works in my car without the key in the ON position (power locks down work if key is out of ON position). I think there might be a loose wire somewhere.... not sure where to start troubleshooting this on the maxima. I' going to check all fuses now. Has anyone else had this problem?

thanks.

well your windows wont work in ACC, but your locks should work even if the key isnt in. thats weird. check wiring diagrams in the haynes or chilton, and just look around for loose wires inside the steering column... havent heard that one before

Yea, its weird... My trunk, headlights, hazard lights, mostly everything works with the key out... only the locks don't work. It can't be the fuse because it works when the car is ON, so what else can it be? I'm thinking its the keyless entry system that's causing this...

And one BIG question. Does the keyless entry system on this car have a remote start feature?? Thats what I was really looking for... I don't mind the locks not working.

Any websites with info on this kind of stuff?
thanks
