Opinions - Kumho HP4 716 vs. Yoko Avid V4S

I will soon be replacing the dealership-issued GoodYear Eagle RSA's on my car. I've checked the comparisons on tirerack on these two sets. Does anyone here have any personal opinions on these 2 tires?

I'm leaning toward the Kumho's because they have a good rating if it snows, and they about $13 cheaper per piece.

I just bought the Yokohama Avid H4S (H-rated) at a great price. Snow and ice are not a consideration for me. If they were, I would have bought the BF Goodrich Traction TA (H-rated).

If the V4S fit your rim, go for them and park your car when it snows. Alterntively, consider the BFG Traction TAs.

I had the Khumo HP4 716 on the Intrepid I had before my Max. Given their low price, I think they are a great tire. They were quiet and rode well. Handling and traction were good for a tire that is that comfortable. I didn't have the chance to drive with them in the snow, but my son-in-law has the car now and said they did well.

We have Traction TA's on my wife's car. They are an excellent choice if traction and handling are more important to you than noise and ride. They also have good tread life.

I don't have any experience with the Yokohamas.

I have had the 716's on my 99 GLE for almost 10k miles now. They are decently quiet; I hear more wind noise than noise from the tires on the highway. The handling is just OK; I'm completely stock so the suspension is the weak point, not the tires. Treadlife has been good. The ride is cushy, but you expect that with a 205/65 series tire. Living in California, I've never driven in snow, so can't give you any input on that. Overall, I think it's a good tire if you use your Maxima purely for commuting or ferrying the in-laws around; definitely not something I'd get if I cared about performance. And you can't beat the price.

EDIT: forgot to mention that I pump mine up to 36 PSI or so, otherwise it seems unbearably sloppy on the road. The ride did not become noticeably less cushy.
