12:1 heads from nismo?

a while back I read on here about nismo coming out with a 12:1 head for the VQ30 as a anniversay for the engine...did that ever come out? is it only purchased through nismo?

not on my new 2000 yet...but I am considering other options such as pure NA...before I put the kit back on this maxima...

would one be able to run premium pump gas with stock timing with that compression or no? aren't those heads straight off the JGTC engines or something? and where did you find the price spanishrice? where could one buy them?

I can't even imagine what jwt cams, valves and valve springs plus these heads would be like!!! with some tuning it could prolly rev up to 8 grand and still make power up there as well! not to mention what it would sound like! vq revving to 8 grand...

Umm they are only 12:1 compression on the VQ35 engine. I think they have like VK45 titanium valves. I think you have to buy special cam blanks then get them grind for whatever lift and stuff you want or you can use the Tomei cams I think. You really wouldn't make power with those with a normal intake manifold, not even the de-k manifold at 8000 rpm.

why exactly does our engine shallow out in the high revs? is it the IM design?

For the most part. That's why all the VIs are so much better above 6000ish rpm..

well I didn't mean continously make power all the way up, but I meant that powerband might still be semi-flat up there...(not like the USIM after 6000)....but with cams, and the 12:1 heads, valves and valve springs, plus tuning up there...I think the car would wind up to 8 grand with a vengeance!

oddly enough I do remember nismo saying that those special edition heads were gonna be for the VQ30 as a anniversary for it...but I can't find the article anymore...in recognition of is racing at JGTC if memory serves...
