aftermarket rims/tires

Hi guys

I bought some rims with tires for 400 buck in the spring. I got a great deal but Id like to get true winter tires soon. I dont really know the size of the rims (ex.7.5, 7 etc...) What I do know is that I ve got 205-40-17s on there now. Can i safely say that up to 225-45-17s will fit on the rims? is there anyway for me to tell? Thanks

I'd suggest going back to the seller and asking the wheel width.
If that's not an option, maybe there's a stamp on the back of the wheel giving you the needed info.

I don't think that there's not enough info to say for sure that 225-45-17 tires fit on your wheels. You'll need to know the width of your wheel, and then, the specs on the tire.

tirerack.com may be a good place to start. If you search for tires based on your current size, looking at the specs of the results may give you a suggestion as to what width your current wheel is.
