Is it safe to clean injectors with CarbCleaner?

Hello, i just pulled some "new" injectors out of an old fuel rail to put into mine, and theres a little bit of build up around the screens and some junk from handling around the injectors itself and its nozzle, is it safe to clean the screen and nozzle with carbcleaner? or is there somethign else i should do?
Thanks
nick

I would not put carb cleaner on them....Try this...Get a bottle of fuel injector cleaner[stuff you put in the tank]. Then mix it with gas in a pan or something like that, then let the ends soak for a while in the gas/cleaner mixture. Then use a soft bristle toothbrush to scrub the ends.....

I sprayed mine with some Carb Cleaner before replacing them, and then wiped it away gently with a clean lint-free rag. No problems so far for me after 7500 mi. Be sure to buy new injector-to-manifold grommets when you replace, and replace all the fuel rail 5/16" hoses too.

By grommets are you referring to the 2 sets of o-rings? In which case i am. And why should I replace the fuel rail hoses? they look pretty good to me.
THanks alot

Yeah, the thick o-rings that go around the injectors.

With age, esp when you live in a region with cold weather, little cracks develop on those hoses where when it gets cold, the rubber stiffens and the tiny cracks are more prominent, which then causes a fuel smell when you turn on your heat. This is made worse by the fact that the clamps on the injector rails lose tension and wear a bit, which causes literally a fuel leak at the clamps until the motor warms up. Of course this fuel leakage can be dangerous. So just replace the hoses if you can afford to while you have everything out, and buy new clamps to restore the tightness. G'luck.

Carb cleaner is no problamo' Just dont soak em in it....it will eat the o-rings and brittle the plastic.... The best stuff aint realy carb cleaner they make it in spray like a carb cleaner... or liquid to put in your gas tank like fuel injection cleaner.. or 1 and 5 gallon containers for a dip... Beryman's
B12 chem tool it can be used for lots of stuff

One quick squirt and it will take any thing clean ... it works almost as good as brake cleaner and isnt as harsh... you can buy the stuff in 5 gallon barrell's just to dunk parts into

here is the spray

here is the big mama jamma...
THIS SUCKER FINDS ALL KINDA GOOD USES!!!!

I just re-did the Injectors in my 92 blazer TBI they are metal Barrel type and soaked them in the dip for 3 days and they pop like brand new ... saved me 300 bucks... so I love this stuff...

ONLY SOAK THE METAL INJECTORS NOT THE PLASTIC KIND OR IT WILL BRITTLE UP THE PLASTIC!!! ... but other than that its great for cleaning

you can pick it up at any parts store

these injectors are 50% plastic, and if you use that stuff on them you wil damage the plastic and very likely the coil inside the injector.

its safe to use carb cleaner on our injectors but like everyone says don't leave them to soak cuz if not... well u already know what im gonna say. i used this on my injectors and it worked just fine. all the crap came off loose from the ends of the injectors leavin' them clean and crisp ready to go. did this 3 months ago when i installed my new motor into my '93 and about 1,200 miles later it hasn't given me any type of problem.

Well then I would only use b12 to clean the hard parts (metal)... Ie Throttle Body Blade and injector seats where the injectors plug pop into... ... I would use somthing Softer then B12 chemtool ... perhaps prestone or outlaw
for the actual cleaning of the Plastic parts of the injector..

I didn't realize that cleaner would brittle the plastic. Makes sense, but I hadn't realized it before. Guess I learned something new tonight.

Yeah I learned the Hard way I was soaking A fuel Pressure Regulator on a Chevy and it was metal but on the inside was plastic and rubber diaphram...

Yeah well needless to say it didnt hold fuel pressure any where near where it needed to be... But it looked realy pretty....

so i had to buy a rebuild kit for it ... thats when i learned about solvents (even store bought I.E. NON COMERCIAL OR INDUSTRAL) making plastics brittle ...
