Will a bad KS make your engine oil dirtier?

I just changed my oil like 3 weeks ago. And I checked it out today, it was kind of dirty and thick. I know I have a bad KS but I can't change the thing myself and money is hard to come by. I am using Mobil 1 SynPower 5W30 and K&N oil filter.

Wishful thinking. A bad knock sensor will not make your oil dirtier. They are going for $80 on ebay. You will get worse gas milage by not changing it. Just eat Top Ramen for a week and get a new one.

I think u may be a case for either LC or auto-rx, if interested pm me or ask in this thread, bobo will chime in im sure too

How many miles u got, and how long u been usin M1?

also its mobil 1 Supersyn, not synpower(thats valvoline) and the M1-110 filter is a better one for your money than a K&N, but the K&N isnt bad.

I use the K&N filter. Seems to work fine. Everyone has Mobile 1 synthetic, but they dont sell the filters...just the crappy fram things. GRRRRR

I suggest considering an AutoRX treatment and possibly two if you have over 100,000 miles (161,000 kilometres) on your car. Lubecontrol could then be used on a maintenance basis.

To see what others say about these products, join www.bobistheoilguy.com (aka BITOG) and check out the Additives forum. Also see www.auto-rx.com and www.lubecontrol.com.

Your engine oil should not be dirty etc. after three weeks. How often do you generally change it?

Perhaps you should get a UOA done on your oil at about 5,000 km.

Ya sorry Supersyn . I just started using it. I got the car like last December. Regular oil change every 5000km or so. Using 91 octane gas now. And I do have the kock sensor purchased, but I couldn't remove it because it was too tight. Maybe I need an engine flush or something. Because at this rate I might have to get my oil changed much sooner than anticipated.

Stay away from engine flushes and solvents. Get some AutoRX and cleanse you engine slowly with it.

Have you ever tried/considered AutoRX?

I'm a BITOG member and they don't even talk about Amsoil engine flush there.
