okay I tried re adjusting my foglights earlier today.....when everything was taken off, I turned on my fogs....no go...i thought to myself its just the fuse...and I checked it and indeed it was...so I replaced it with another one and I tried turning on my fogs again....heard a big CLICK...then I checked the fuse again and it burned out too....I was like wtf? two in a row?

what could be the problem? I'm heading over to the store to pick up more fuses....but what should I look for before I start throwing more fuses in the trash can...

 

You have a short somewhere. Find the problem first before you start to pop in fuses like peanuts.

 

If your foglights carry an H3 bulb, then your short circuit could be right at the bulb....check them both. An easy way to check is to try it with ONE foglight at a time, and see if the fuse blows...if it only blows out with one of the foglights, then you know that your problem lies there...

 

so try it with one bulb disconnected and the other one still connected?

sorry for noobish question...but short circuit means the whole circuit is not complete right? meaning something along the lines is not completed right?

the foglight fuse is 15amp....would running a 20amp do any good?

 

DON'T add a bigger fuse!!!!!! find out where the short is. Look at the wiring, and make sure it's not piched or nicked or cut.

 

okay so i took out the drivers side foglight bulb and left the passenger side one on....added a new fuse and the passenger foglight stays on....so something is up with the drivers side right? i don't see anything physically wrong with the wiring or the bulb itself...it's not blown yet....what should i do?

 

Just to stress the point, do not put in a higher-rated fuse. My friend's Mazda 626 had to have his whole wiring harness pulled, and a brand new one installed because he threw a 30 amp fuse where there should have only been a 15 amp one, since the 15 amp fuse kept blowing. Mucho dinero to fix, and a lot of down time.
