I don't think so.

Mag times:

4th gen: 0-60= 6.6 seconds 1/4 mile 15.2
Contour: 0-60= 7.6 seconds 1/4 mile= 15.7

It's basically about as fast as an SVT Focus, or stock AUTO max.

Quite a few people have gotten 14.7-14.9 out of stock 4th gens. I don't see any stock contour getting anywhere close to 14's stock.

The maxima is the faster car hands down. About the best you can hope for out of an SVT Contour is 15.2 stock. They dyno low for their claimed "200hp". They dyno about 160hp to the wheels stock, 145ish tq. They are heavier than the 4th gen by about 100lbs. All this adds up to the Maxima being a bit faster, but not so much faster that a good driver in a contour SVT couldn't take out a poor driver in a maxima. But given the same driver, the maxima is faster, no question.

Stock 4th gens dyno around 160whp/170-175wtq. Gotta love the extra torque.

it's just that my friend drove my car and he is like pff i can smoke u(he has an integra with b16a1 swap) like an civic Si or sir(in canada), and he raced a svt contour yesterday and contour beat him pretty bad, so that's why i asked if max can take a contour, that means i can take his b16a1

You should beat a b16a1 powered integra without a problem

my roommate has a CSVT, my car would stoke his before my supercharger. It should not be very close if you can drive.

Your roommate can't drive Stock for stock it's pretty much a drivers race, SVT's are hard to launch and that's what really kills these cars in straight line performance. They also only have a 165ft\lbs TQ, compared to a fourth gen's 215? A couple 4t gen Max's vs a SVT contour In this vid the contour beats the stock 4th gen 5spd's 3 out of 3 races and loosely slightly to a modded 4th gen 5spd. The SVT is stock btw, it just has a intake. I say run him but don't bet any money, because if he can drive he will give u a run for your money

I didn't know an intake meant the car was stock lol?

Anywho yeah it can be a close race but the maxima remains a faster car with equal drivers, by a couple carlengths in a 1/4 mile race. More power + more torque w/ less weight = faster. Contour would beat the maxima in the turns because of it's suspension and better stock tires but that isn't what this discussion is about.

A couple car lengths in a 1/4 mile? that's a wee bit of an exaggeration i would think. Unless you are talking about those exclusive maxima SS GTR Spec 5 Mach 2 GT ls1 powered rear wheel drive 4th gen maximas... But seriously, my point was... depending on the driver it could be a close race so if your gonna run it for money don't sleep on the SVT.

Low 15s @ 90mph vs high 14s @ 93mph is a few car lengths in the 1/4 mile. That's not an exaggeration in any way, shape, or form. I'm not even quoting "best possible" times here. If I were to do that it would be even worse for the Contour.
