You don't necesarily need to drain all of it. The only reason you need to drain some is so it doesn't leak out of the differential hole when you remove the axles. But you might as well drain it all out, especially if a fluid change is due.

If you drain it into a clean container you can keep contamination out of. Then you just have to worry about getting it into a bottle, then into the tranny. Don't be lazy, look up the capacity you can use the search.

You can change the parts w/o draining the fluid. But be ready to throw all the clothes you were wearing away.

As well as washing your hair, face, and body with dish soap about 10 times, and being stuck with that smell in your nose for a week.

I'm not lazy. I know how much the full capacity is, I was wondring how much I would need if it only gets partially drained.

If it's been in there for more than about 10,000 miles, just change it. If you are asking these questions, you really should be searching, reviewing the stickies (there are more than one excellent write ups) and have at least a cheap Haynes/Chiltons service manual.

Here I'll even do the work for you. Keep this EXCELLENT website in your favorites and refer to it frequently. It doesn't cover everything but what it DOES cover is done very well.

How can anyone here guess that? Partially drained by how much? 1qt? 2qt? That is a freakin retarded question!

Perhaps some more background info would clear things up:

-Tranny fluid was changed in march. (About 3K miles ago).
-I will be ordering OEM 5th gen clutch parts and having a local mechanic install
-I want to know what else I will need to order before having it done
