Hey guys my buddy wants to race me at the track (LACR) he has an 05 srt-4 i have an 02 maxima 6 speed his car has an aem intake a turbo xs bov/boost controller pushing 19 psi.I have an intake,y pipe and hks muffler and a 50 shot of nitrous. whats your opinion on the outcome? the two of us are pretty good drivers weve had this grudge since he got his car in december last year and i think its time we settle it.

 

srt-4 is a 14-14.2 car stock. so unless u think u can run around a 13.5 i'd say no way. not sure what the stock boost is on them, but at 18-19psi, he's getting some 45+ hp over stock. someone else can probably chime in with a little more info about them.

 

14-14.2 stock? I've seen them in the 13's stock. You could do it for fun but he will own you.

 

not those little boogers. tell him you'll race him in 2 yrs, that should give him enough time for that car to break down.

Intake and BOV's are ricer mods for those cars. He doesn't know how to properly mod his car so chances are he probably can't drive worth a crap either.

 

Before the tweaking, he ran a best of 14.1 @17 psi.

My bro ran a 13.7 w/ a wastegate, boost controller, new motor mounts (helped w/ wheelhop) @17 psi in his 04. He tweaked and played w/ the bc and wastegate for HOURS until he kept getting a constant 17 psi boost (forgot at which rpm's).

If not tuned correctly the boost doesn't hold correctly and that he'll just keep getting spikes (at first the boost would spike to 17, drop to 14, then stay low). This would majorly slow down his car, giving you an advantage.

If he tuned it properly so that he runs a constant 19 psi (I have no idea how it pulls at 19 psi, we never tried that high of a boost) than good luck.

Its tough to launch those cars properly... then again the maxima is not a peice of cake either. If you drive flawlessly you might beat him. The 50shot will definitely help. If you can beat him at the 60' and then spray you will win.

 

my friend has a 03 srt-4, he runs about 20 psi and has exhasut and intake and it spikes down to 17-18, my boys 2k2 altima with exhaust and intake takes him, but its a very close race.

 

I have a 2000 with a ypipe, custom cat back, and a 75 shot of nitrous and i've walked a few srt 4's. the only one that i have lost to was one that had a down pipe, electric cutout in the exhaust, turned up boost and also had a 75 shot. I severly beat a stage II one(like had two cars through second gear) I think that you can take him

 

My friend had a 03 srt4 with k&n CAI and a turbo XS boost controller his peaked at 20 psi and held at 19psi. With a 75 shot I would gain about a car and a half every gear except for first. If your car is like mine I cant spray until halfway through second on hot dry roads. He would kill me through first by about 3 1/2 cars and I would pass him about the end of third. So on a track he might win but on a roll you might take him.

Most of the srt-4 around here get 12's and low 13's 1/4 mile track (guess these guys just know how to drive them). Although there was one srt-4 where the guy could not drive it and his times were in the 10's (1/8 mile track). Then he let his friend try and he was able to get in the high 9's. So if the guy does not know how to drive it you will get him but if he does watch out.

i would think 111mph is normal for the 12 second range, many here have done it. i believe traction played apart in my 1/4 mile time being higher, but when i went for a second pass i blew the motor trying for 11's. and yes even with the bigger turbo guys like supra etc, i always kill em off the line but by full turbo boost they quickly catch up, and most of them are pushing 19lbs and better.

Someone dynoed his 02 Altima with only bolt ons and a 60 shot. N/A he put down like 245whp/240wtq. With nitrous he put down 300whp and 348 pounds of torque at the wheels. So, I really don't see where the SRT-4 has an advantage.

I've seen plenty of srt-4's in the mid 14's so I'm guessing they cant drive. But I think you will win. If a 2000 auto max with a 75 shot can hit 13.8 I'm pretty sure a 2002 6speed with a 50 shot can do a little better. With the mods that the srt-4 has it should put him a little closer to you but I think you would definately win.

 

I have five friends with these cars all mostly just intake, larger itc, and exhaust. I take each one off the line with no problem but they always catch back up at around 70-80(top of 2nd). Oh yeah iv'e got an 02 auto with just an injen intake,straight pipe, DR mod, and NGK Iridiums and of course 235 wide toyo's. My best run so far recorded is a 14.66 in 92* weather (reallyhot) at famoso raceway in bakersfield,ca.

 

Oh yeah stock SRT's come with 15 pounds of boost so an extra 4 and nitrous.....Oh just race and give us the results. GOOD LUCK

sure will, last time we raced i beat the fool out of him, lol. but it turned out he was running on 3 cylinders so now its fixed and were gonna try again this weekend.

 

those little SRT-4's are fast....they are light and they are turboed... i think it is funny when dodge/mitsubishi gets this little 4 cyl and they slap a turbo on it......but the only good thing is that it is very light becasue of it being a 4 cyl and its a neon

 

well the race went down and i have it on phone video that i will host as soon as i can. the first run wasnt good, we took off neck and neck but he slowly creeped ahead about a 1/4 fender and i stopped the race. the car felt very sluggish and i couldnt figure out why. so were out there trying to figure out whats wrong while the sr4t guy is saying its a wrap i tore that max up, lol. finally i figure it out the J&S timing retard switch accidentally got switched to 8 degrees retard and sapped all my power at 5 psi. after fixing that we go for our 2nd run. from the jump i pull 4 cars and by the end of the 1/4 8 cars hahaha, he says i missed second gear lets go again. try 2 he takes off first and stays in front until his second gear then i hit the switch running a 30 shot and bolted off for another 8 car kill. it was funny the guys was giving a interview on before and after and wanted to know how he felt. he said dang when you can see a mans tailights 8 cars ahead in the 1/4 thats a whipping to never forget lol. he went to the track this year and clocked in at 13 seconds in the 1/4 but says back to the drawing board and hell see me spring time.

 

That is 1/8 mile time. I almost dipped into 9's once with my 4 cylender altima. I got 10.1
