Gauges: Air/Fuel Ratio & Oil Preasure

Anyone have any info how to install these into a 4th gen (95) maxi ? I know the air fuel ratio one goes to the sensor thats by the cat on the bottom somewhere, but i have not much of a clue how the oil preassure one hooks up, if anyone knows how or has some good links i would apreceate it.

For Oil pressure you, you can buy an adapter which allows you to use the factory Oil Sensor and your oil Pressure at the same time. I bought one of those adapter and it did not fit. I have the auto meter gauge. I just removed the Factory Oil sensor and plugged in the Auto Meter psi reader. http://www.cardomain.com/item/ATM4322 this is the one i have

It is very close to the OIl Filter, right above the oil pan.

Engine serveice light will not go on if you remove the OEM oil sensor. If your oil is low or no oil in your engine, he oil light will not come on in your cluster gauge.

ok you need to know the basics.
the gauges come with 1/8" and or 1/4" NPT fittings. our cars use BSPT fittings so they are not the same. You need to make sure you have the correct fittings.

its easier to remove the stock sensor since you will be using a guage which is more accurate. the light just comes on when the oil pressure is below 8 psi or so.

i have a special BSPT adapter in the block with coper tubing going to a T up near the power steering which has the stock sensor plugged in as is the gauge.

haha yea they are expensive. maybe you can find a single BSPT to NPT adapter. i think its 1/8". you really dont need the stock switch.

use one of the front O2 sensors. if you use one after tha cat you will get bum readings, not like it really matters with a narrow band anyhow.

My 1995 has 1/8" and you dont need to buy the 50$ adapter.... its like 3$ at pepboys .. i just need an extension because the pipe in the way doesnt let me screw in my sensor :/ and for o2 its the BLUE wire and i found a place i can tap in right between the radiator and the cylinders dont even have to go under the car =) how BUM can the readings be ?

An a/f gauge is useless unless it's used in conjunction with a wide-band O2 sensor. All you're gonna get is a light show otherwise.

I got one of these for my mechanical oil pressure gauge, I know, I know paid too much but I could find one anywhere up here in Canada.

I hooked up my AF directly to the ECU, couldn't tell you exactly which wire but I just kept tapping in the back until it started working!

I can guarantee you that your a/f gauge isn't giving you an accurate reading.

thats a cheesy brass fitting most likely in NPT. it will break or leak down the road and leave you stranded.

So the AEM A/F ones that they sell on Ebay for $200 or more will replace one of the O2s basically the one before the Cat?

It won't really replace anything. What i meant was that you need to buy a wide-band O2 sensor first before you can hook an a/f gauge up and get a meaningful reading.
