car can't start... and need opinion on what to do.

hello,

recently my starter , a reman one has stuttered starting upi got it done at a place, less than a year ago, they used the generic brands, the beckney brand SUCKS... the bad thing is that THAT shop has TECHNICALLY closed and so i don't know if i can go back and complain.. they relocated i believe but i have to ck..i wasn't there the 1st time the car's starter died out.

anyhow today it completely lost it. my car just won't start, and i suspect my becknely(sp) starter is the reason behind it. i can hear a click, and some beeps and engagement of electrical devices but it just won't start. starter isn't even spinning. none of that "almost start up but can't reach it" thing.

so i check if i have light and all that, and it's okay. could it be my alternator? battery?? hmm..

I have checked the motorvate website on removing the starter and I will mostly take a look and remove it.

Question is, what STARTER should I buy if indeed it is my starter? an OEM one? another REMAN one? or a generic brand like AUTO LITE? anybody with experience with it and exactly how long have u had ur NEW starter. etc etc.

sorry if this is a rush, but the car is my daily transportation.

thanks..

So far my Autozone starter has been doing fine, 6 months now.

As to beckney, did you contact them directly?

Please don't tell me you're a writer for a living.

Stick with the OEM parts. They may cost you a little more but you'll be better off in the long run.

Thanks all.

Sorry it was late at night and I just decided to post this thread to get it out there ASAP.

I haven't called Beckney yet, and I'm not sure if they themselves will honor it or not. I'll try take the starter out first and then go from there.

*Could there be any possibilities of another problem?

Was yours a reman. one or a new new? What brand was it?

I don't think there's anything wrong w/ reman, but to me it just seems humbug and missing some quality control points. For example my starter was a reman one and now it crapped out. I believe checker's offer those UNLIMITED warranties cuz once it craps u return and they rebuild and recycle the same process.
I'm seriously thinking OEM but I don't know how much it would be. My Maxima had about 60k or so before it crapped out. My other OEM HONDA with its OG starter has been on the car for 15 years, 85k and NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. While my Sis' Altima at 60kish is starting to crap out TOO !!!

Sometimes I wonder how the heck it happens, but crap happens..

I'll look at new, reman, oem and get some prices and post to see if I can get it online cheaper or local dealership.

was that the 2nd replacement on ur car's entire life? like after the original one that came with your car crapped out; the replacement (oem) is the one you have now?

im just trying to get an idea interms of how many miles a starter should get for these nissan. how much did you pay for the part?
