00VI Kick-in Point

There has been a lot of input as to the recommended RPM setting for the 00VI to activate, but has anyone actually done back-2-back dyno runs, the first with the VIAS deactivated and the second with it tied open? The torque cross-over point ought to be the optimum RPM point for activation.

If they have, no one has posted it.

Torque crossover point is always at the same point. IIRC, 5180 RPM.

And he meant the torque of 2 SEPARATE curveS i.e Run 1 VS Run 2

Yeah but we trolls(well me) have to make it difficult and teach a few items on the way .

i did similar testing but with a little difference. my first few runs were done with a vias that was not activating. at the crossover, the hp did not gain a single thing. for the next runs we removed the power valve which would simulate a vias being held open. there is still some restriction with the power valve in place as opposed to it being completely removed however. i have about 13 run files at work that i can email someone to host. IIRC the power valve removed run crossed the non functiong at around 5k rpms or slightly before it.

I'd be glad to

I may have one of yours with the power rod removed, a little loss in th low end, but 201-203fwhp IIRC

00VI Optimum Activation Point

Assuming that we're all talking about trying to achieve the best acceleration, then we ought to be focusing on the torque cross-over point, not the HP.

With all due respect to the contributors, what I started out asking for was for hard, dyno-tested evidence, not heresay. I'm not necessarily asking to see the dyno charts (which we all would find interesting, to say the least), but hearing from someone who (firsthand) did this kind of an experiment. Anyone?
Oh, and BTW, I'd be willing to make a small wager that the Nissan engineers performed such a test, but may have shifted the actuation point for other reasons. If I was the engineer in charge of development of that VIAS, that's how I would have gone about setting the actuation point.

good deal. yeah, with standard correction it was right at 200. i know i emailed them to SR but i figured someone hosting them could be beneficial to someone. do you want them sent to your email routed through the org?

The switchover may be slightly different depending on the car and its mods.

I tried everything from 4900 to 5150 in 50 rpm increments and for me the best point was 5000. Looking at the dyno curves it was pretty obvious that going outside that range was counter-productive.

and for people that have autos that only leaves 1k till 6k when the auto shifts so a ecu upgrade is needed.

They could always shift manually and make it hold until fuel cut.
