Dyno results from the KC Nissan Meet
Russ made 183 fwhp and 193fwtq in his 5 speed 2001 Maxima (stock)
HoJo made 127fwhp and 157fwtq in his mostly stock auto 91 SE.
A S/C (wiith smaller pulley) 95 SE auto made 235fwhp and 212 fwtq.
We also watched a handful of 300ZXTT and 240 SXs dyno. A few of the 240s were running SR20DET and bolt on turbo kits. The 300ZXTTs were putting down 255-325rwhp and a 240 SX with the SR20DET swap put down 319rwhp.
Russ and I made a few street runs. Both times from a deadstop, he got me by 1-2 cars to 60mph. Unfortunately, ever since adding my UDP, traction appears to be very limited and I will have to adjust my launch accordingly. Russ was doing very good and launching. We also made two runs from 50mph and I slowly walked him to 90-95mph (top of 3rd for me).

Kansas meet
Dave, Glad you posted. I just rolled in, 6.5 hrs from the meet to home!!! Sure would have been nice to see a few more Maximas there. Hojo is going to be redynoing his car in the very near future, comparing stock, non-mandrel y-pipe, and lastly our mandrel bent y-pipe.We hope to once and for all settle this issue. At least on the 3rd Gen y-pipes and possibly the 4ths as well, mandrel bending may not be essential. The boys there today can attest, theres not a hell of alot of difference in the non-mandrel vs mandrel bent VG pipes. The mandrel bent pipe is 6.5" around and the non-mandrel at the narrowest point is 6.25". We will be sure to post results. We also got alot of ideas from the Nissan boys. All said, a very interesting meet.

Those are good results, especially from Hojo's VG. As for the SR20DET powered 240sx's. I've seen dyno charts of 350fwhp+ from SR20DE's with the Fmax turbo kit. That SR20DE or SR20DET is one well known motor when it comes to power. Also what did your car dyno too and how does your torque curve compare to Russ's?
Nismo87-
I didn't dyno today because when I signed up, I didn't think I would have done anymore mods to my car by the time of the meet (unfortunately I added the UDP 5 days ago). I considered dynoing, but there were just too many people still awaiting that werre registered to dyno. I will dyno another day since the shop is only 5 minutes away. I compared Russ's dynos to mine and all his motor does is carry on the power an extra 600rpms further than mine in hp. His tq hold on longer too. It was really strange that I walked him in the topend. I thought for sure he'd get me there.
Dave (Guido)-
A 152 fwhp and 175fwtq is right on for a stock VQ auto. Put that Y-pipe on and an intake and we'll go dyno our cars. I think you could come pretty close to 170fwhp and 190 fwtq with all the toys.

Dave...I'm VERY suprised at your results of runs with Russ....my friend Jason (MAX2000JP) is stock also (well intake as of 2 days ago) and when we run I always pull 1-2 cars on him in first gear...and he never really catches up. He's convinced that he can get me from 50 on, but from what you posted about walking on russ from 50 on...that probably wouldn't happen. Very interesting.

I don't want to steal any of Russ's thunder, but I will say this, on both runs I launched at 3000rpms. This is actually a little lower than what I usually launch at on the street and all I did was smoke the tires thru 1st even with feathering the throttle. On the second run, I hooked up at 4500rpms (after letting off), but when I dipped back into the throttle I started to spin again and when I hit 2nd I didn't chirp the tires, I continued to spin till 5000rpms. Either the UDP has added a bit more lowend or all of a sudden my driving completely sucks.
Russ said he got a little spin, but mostly just some hop till 3000.
I don't think we'll really know which car is quicker until Russ runs at the track. My 60 foots are generally in the upper 2.2s right now. Judging by the way I launched yesterday and by my track experience, I'd say both my stoplight runs would have been equal to atleast high 15s at the track.
However, with all that said, Russ got me both times off the line. I got beat and it's as simple as that. I'm very upset in my driving.

That's 282hp at the crank, and Stillen advertises 280hp for a 5-speed.

Just made it back guys...
What a long 12 1/2 hr journey back home. Maxima is tired, put 1900 miles in the past 4 days on her. She will get a bath tomarrow if I am up to it, and I will also post pictures, and scan my dyno sheet in as well. I am really tired right now, but I will give details on the meet as well tomarrow sometime.
I wanted to also say that it was really nice meeting Dave, Justin, GLE man (forgot your name, sorry), and SC Maxima guy, with many others.... It was great to see you guys, even though I got screwed $30 bucks for the meet. Oh well

As for getting screwed $30, UNON should be under new management soon and hopefully things will improve some...
PS - "GLE Man" is fine, but you can call me Dave.
I guess I didn't make a big enough impression with Russ for him to remember me, or I guess it could be the long trip back to Texas? j/k.
I should be getting the prototype from Warp Speed soon and I will dyno with it and then again with the y pipe they offer now. I'll keep everybody posted.

Russ-
Glad you made it home alright. Of course, after you left, it stopped raining and dried up. I'm sure the autocross ended up happening. Overall, this weekend kinda sucked. Poor management was a big problem, but the damn rain is what really ****ed me off. 1/4 mile racing was going to be the highlight for me because I wanted to show some of those cocky 240 guys what a 4-door could do. BTW, we got 3 more inches of rain last light
Total for the month of June is 4.5" of rain....already. I hate Kansas City.
Seriously Russ, let's try to setup a Dallas meet sometime in the late summer or early fall. It doesn't have to be anything special. I was just thinking we could get a group from TX, KS, MO, OK, NE, etc and have a little Maxus for us who don't have the time to drive to DC. I was thinking a little 1/4 mile racing and a car show/meet cook out at a park or something.

Sounds pretty good Dave. I know in early October I will be going to Las Vegas, so I won't have time around then, or September.
Also, the auto-x may have happened, I was out there helping setting it up for the 1st 1hr only me and the crown owner for autocross club. It was pouring, I got soaked trying to help him. We decided we did not need to get sick, so we left and went back to the hotel. Well alot of the 240 guys cancelled doing autox as well, and only about 3 went
. Which was kinda funny... Also the $30, $10 was from the strip which they said would be refunded, but Louis won't. The $20 was from the autox, which also was not paid yet, and Louis told me at the hotel it was paid, per the autox crown owner it wasn't. So basically he was screwing alot of people.

What are we gonna do about Louis pocketing this money? The track only cost $5 not $10 (we all got a deal). However, only the KC peeps will be able to still use the 1/4 mile passes. From what I'm seeing, it looks like Louis is pocketing about $300 from the 1/4 mile and possibly $400-500 from the autocross. Does this sound about right?
I don't exactly know how to go about getting everyone's money back. I don't know if the KC folks could bring a small claims court case against Louis for the money they lost. I think he would refund the money once he recieved the registered "Notice to Appear". I think he should refund all money that wasn't used for the event minus whatever postage it takes to send the rightful the money. I would think that the case would be an easy win seeing that he didn't provide what we all paid for.
Is there a 240SX forum all these guys are on? What about the 300ZX forum?

Actually for me, the track cost $10 for me and Jason. $5 per person. Yeah he defintely pocketed alot of money, they even had some type of party that some of us didn't know about, but I heard from the security of the hotel since it was going on at 11:30 at night and you could hear it through the floors of the building. So obviously all this money was spent on him, the 2 suites, and his 240sx buds with the party they had. That explains why they were so late getting up and out of the hotel Sunday morning when he said 10am sharp be there, he didn't leave till close too 11pm. I would really like to get my $30 bucks back, no matter what it takes, I spent hundreds going to this event, and it didn't prove to be worth it.

Another update, he also changed his posts of what bad comments he said about maxima owners. Damn, I should have not mentioned it so you guys could have read them. Basically he called David (gle Max) a *******, and the other Maxima guys a bunch of no bodys and he won't invite anyone other than 240 guys again.
That is what ****ed me off.

Yea Louis definitely had a big head at the meet. About his comment about it not being his meet? Do you remember what he said to me when he told me to move my car "This is my meet" he needs to make up his mind. I do understand if the website stated something, I didn't look, about things being non refundable. I wonder a little about the autocross though. Anybody that has done it before knows that if you don't run you don't pay. Did anybody else notice which cars the door prizes were for? All but a few generic things were for 240sx's. Even the turbo timer that I won couldn't be used by over half the cars there. Oh well he wants to make it a 240 meet next year, fine with me. Maybe someone should setup a midwest "chapter" Maxus next year, I know I can't drive to either coast.
And about the catered linch being $500 over what they quoted? someone messed up here thats a pretty large error. And when I ate, one of the last to do so, they still had alot left.

Yes I completely agree... He can't make up his mind on what he says, he also is defintely pocketing the money somewhere because I autox as well locally, and if I don't run, I don't pay. So where did my $20 bucks go for that? To his beers for his personal party with his 240sx buds.

I'm in the same boat with you guys, I didn't really enjoy myself all that much and the meet wasn't put together all that well. I was basically there to run the 1/4 mile and dyno, the first one got rained out and I had to ***** and moan for 3 hours not to get screwed on the second one!
As for me being "the maxima guy, aka: "that *******". I really don't get what the hell they're talking about, the fact that I wanted to run on the dyno I paid for doesn't seem that unreasonable to me at all.
I suggest we put our heads together and see what we can do, we certainly can't do much worse than this year.

Although I didn't have enough time to attend all the events I do agree with you guys about getting your money back. About 2 weeks before the whole event I e-mailed the guy about trying to get into the events and then i could try to get the weekend of from work but he never responded to me. Anyways I live in the KC area and if you guys need any help getting anything done I can try to help.
BTW...Russ... something is wrong with www.b15sentra.net I can't get into the site..and also I would like to buy two of those b15sentra stickers if you still have them.

FYI folks...
if you didn't get the "update" from Louis via email let me know... I'll send it to you all... he sounded pretty happy go lucky like everything was cool... but he just ****ed up.. right after I saw that I thought.. well maybe hes trying to be nice, etc... but it looks like that was just a "front"... don't worry about the $$$... I'm doing some investigations.... you guys will know the whole deal before too long.. .
FYI.. my friends folks own a portion of KCIR.. and I happen to be good friends w/ the guy who runs Jack Stack barbque (you know the caterer)... I've got some Z guys involved in this.... personally I was hoping louis was calming down and trying to be a civilized person again.... apparently not... I would like you to all forward me your comments as I will need these... thanks... Justin

Good grief! Reading this thread makes me really really happy that I didn't venture all the way the hell to KC for this! I was seriously thinking about it. BTW, I live in Seattle! What a waste that would've been! Wow. This Louis guy sounds like a major a$$hole.

That's the feeling that I'm getting from all this. That's a shame. They totally hyped it up as a Nationwide Nissan Meet. Sounds like it was a Nationwide 240 Meet. What a shame!
Maxus 2002 or bust.
Can't make it in 2001.

It wasn't even a "national" 240 meet. They only had about 30 240s there. I believe only 3 of them had turbos and two of which were SR20DET.
What I found that was hilarious is that these guys acting as if they made hell freeze over when one SR20DET put down 320 rwhp and 280 rwtq. Impressive numbers? Yes. Heavy car? Yes. Useable power? No. If you would have seen the hp and tq curves, it is quite clear the power was either on or off. The torque curve is, well, a curve which means acceleration is slow to come on and then it flys. Torque curves aren't suppose to look like hp curves. I think the owner thought it could get 11s. I completely disagree after seeing the power curves. The only way this car could get off the line effectively is with a 5500rpm launch (according to dyno), full blown slicks, and a line lock so that he can spool up a bit at the line. The car would be a beast from a roll no doubt, but from 0-40mph, I'd bet my Max could out accelerate him. As we all know, getting off the line fast is what counts in drag racing. 320rwhp (370 flywheel) and a 3100lb curb weight equates to about a 8.4:1 power to weight ratio. Compare this to a slightly modded LS1 F-Body ~376 flywheel hp and 3400lbs with a powwer to weight ratio of 9.0:1. As we all know, a F-Body has a CRAP load more useable torque (ie very flat curve) and these cars are good for mid 12s on drag radials with excellent driving. The F-Bodys can also launch hard because of the live axle. The 240 is left to axle hop at the line. With the 240s wheel hop, lack of useable torque, and turbo lag, I'd say this car would be good for lower 13s on race gas and upper 13s without. Fast and impressive car it is and the guy was cool (and very happy), but I don't think he'll touch the 12s for a long time more or less the 11s.
