Terrible Sound - Need your help

I have a strange sound that comes from the front of my car occasionally. It sounds and feels like the tires/brakes. The sound is like metal rubbing against metal (not a high pitch squeek). It sounds more like the caliper assembly fell off and it is dragging or rubbing against something (obviously this did not happen because I would be dead right now). It only happens when I am going very slow and when I am going slow and braking. It does not happen all the time though.

On a side note, I do think it is time to change the pads on the front but this is not the typical "brake pads need to be replaced" sound - the brakes give a bad grinding sound when I brake hard (it may just be that my rotors need to be turned (I still do not think this is the only problem I am having). So, what the heck am I hearing?

I am sorry this is so long, thanks for trying to help.

Did you check the pads? My guess is you have worn down all the wear material off the pads and are grinding the pad-backing metal against the rotor.

I have the exact same sound
just had my brakes done and pads replaced 2-3 weeks ago which is good cause i have somebody to get loud at about it now,
maybe they ****ed something up, or it could be completely unrelated to the brakes (you never know)

I will check this after work, I have not looked at it too hard yet. Thanks for the tip.

could be that your caliper is getting stuck at times?

maybe its just the brake shield rubbing on the rotor, those are bent easy and can be quite loud, u can just push it away fromt he brake without taking off the rim, just use a long screwdriver or soemthing liek that and push/bent/rebend the shield back.
