Changed Rear Brakes- Oil Leak??

Changed my rear pads & rotors on the Maxima. I used a caliper piston compressor to move it back into place. Not sure If it went too far, because some oil started coming out from the caliper boot. Did it spring a leak or is this normal/ok?

No oil should be coming out of anywhere unless you had the bleeder open. If its a leak by the boot you may need to either rebuild or replace it.

The rear maxima calipers are known to go bad early and seeze up

Did you have the tool that allows you to spin/turn the caliper piston back in, or did you just push it back in. Either way it should not be leaking any break fluid.

No fluid should come out from the piston dust boot. Like matty said, only bleeder screw or disconnecting brake line.

I guess your dust boot is worn, and you should purchase a caliper rebuild kit which contains new dust boot, new O-ring. Fix the probem ASAP, or else you will lose pressure in the brake system.

Even with the kit you have to be careful--it can be used on the front as well, where you simply compress without turning the piston. When I first bought mine I didn't realize that I wasn't twisting, but luckily I didn't force it, I just figured based on the responses from the org that my calipers were seized. I finally used logic and determined that since my parking brake worked 100% as far as holding the vehicle and releasing, that there was no way/no how my calipers were seized. I then used the proper adapter and the pistons went in like butter.

Even though the tool is mechanical, sometimes it takes a careful look/see to make sure one's using it properly....my .02.

I used the tool that allows you to spin it back in place, but I might have pushed it in too far. That's when some oil started leaking out.
