clutch is slipping and feels like its about to go

clutch is slipping and feels like its about to go

so since the other day when it snowed for the first time and has been cold my clutch feels like it is an inch long and has no resistance. it is deff. slipping and it seems like it could go anyday now. anyone have an idea of how much time i really might have? and i know there have been a million discussions about this but is the 5th gen clutch the best replacement for the 4th gen when you are not turbo/supercharging it. simplest answers would be great. just a quick discussion. thanks for any input.

I imagine you could baby it for awhile. For stock to bolt-ons a 5th gen clutch is a great replacement for OEM feel and engaugement.

yeah it's a good combo - have it on mine after replacing my exedy in which the TO bearing went bad ...

love the 5th gen clutch.

alright sounds like a good investment. everything fits in the same and there are no additinal parts needed?

Nope, fits in and all you need is the corresponding fifth gen. parts - Clutch Cover/Pressure Plate, Clutch Disk, and Throwout bearing. That's it.

Get 5th gen Clutch everything.

adjust grab point and bleed to extend the life of your current clutch.

thanks guys. i need to do this soon its gotten so bad to where my car will drive itself up a hill when i should be rolling back or stalling which is now hard to do....

I noticed my clutch was slipping too today. It has been perfect until today, it was damn cold out but I didn't think that would matter. The car was warmed up and I noticed it slipped a bit when i was going into 2nd gear. I then wanted to see if I could get it to do it again so I put it in 4th and slowed down to about 10-15mph and put down the gas and the car kept lurching with the clutch slipping. wtf I wish it would have started creating problems when it was warm out.

Almost forgot to ask, about how much would a 5th gen clutch asm cost? Is it something I can do at my house, I'm mechanically inclined but tool deprived.

Hey, I'm new here. My clutch is slipping pretty bad too I'm getting it changed in the near future, just gonna have to baby it for the time being, but cant wait to see what this car is really capable of once my cutch is in, and then the modding begins!!!

ya my car is now stuck in the driveway and wont go into gear. when i try to put it into 1st with the clutch all the way in it starts to creep forward. hopin it might warm up a little bit and go into gear just to make it down the street to the shop..

Just got the car back, it cost me $350 I would have done it myself but I don't have anything to lift the car but it saved me alot of trouble and I'm pretty happy with how the car pulls, any clue as to how many miles it should take to break it in I'v been getting mixed answers thanks.

Turn off car.

Clutch in, shift to first. Start car.

You might have to shift without a clutch, or just leave it in first (unless you want to start in 2nd or 3rd). I had to drive 150 miles with no clutch once (with the Max, too), it's definitely doable. Just, when you come to a stop, turn off your car and leave it in first. When you want to start, depress clutch, start the car and take off. Same goes for reverse.

thats why i used an oem throw out bearing with the exedy.....
