How would you rate acceleration?

Has anyone gone to the track and actually found out what the 0-60 and 1/4 miles times on a stocker?

Also, how would you rate the acceleration of your car? Im just curious to what people think. I would say the car has "peppy" acceleration, good low to midrange torque, slightly underpowered on the top. Its pretty weird going from a Honda that makes all its power at the top to a Maxima which seems to excel in the midrange instead. Wish the Maxima had Vtec

Maxima doesn;t need VTEC, your car would feel better up top with a VI, and you'll have the best of all wrolds.

Didn't they teach thAt in Maxima school, or did you skip that class?

Whats a VI? An aftermarket Intake? If thats what you are referring to then I will pass, I am currently enjoying the quiteness of the engine, but only time will tell.

He is referring to the ooVI or intake manifold of a 5th Gen Maxima, ie. 2000/2001 vintage.

You haven't stated whether your Maxima is a 5-speed or autotragic. You are also wondering about 0 - 60 times and 1/4 miles times for a stocker. I would be willing to bet that a 4th Gen Maxima, automatic or not, will beat a similar vintage V6 Accord in both 0 -60 times and 1/4 miles times.

See www.car-stats.com for magazine-racing statistics.

Im pretty sure a short ram intake will make the car noticeably louder than a stock box. Are you sure about this, or are we talking about two different mods?

compared to the other cars on the market at the time, the max was a bit faster.
-zero-to-sixty extremely rough comparison-
Maxima : upper 6s-mid 7s
Camry V6 : mid-upper 7s
Accord V6: mid-upper 7s

0-60 is not the best acceleration technique IMO

0-100 is more accurate of performance

good point. however, i rarely accelerate to 100 so... 0-60 is more representative of what i might experience on a daily basis.

Very good point. I would say the Maxima is in the top 30% for acceleration for family sedans. It's not that fast for 2k6 standards, but was very fast by 1994 standards, when the 4th gen came out. Stock, it's very doubtful it can do a 6.6 like the brochure said as late as 1998. But you make a good point, it's relative. I drove the Miata only 6 miles, and when I got back into my car it was as if I were driving a Caprice Classic. People think it's driving lessons that others need when they mention the ABS, but after 7+ years with the car, I can tell you it activates sooner than before. I have a 2k5 CR-V and e90 to make the comparisons with. Who knows, I plan on putting new front pads in next spring, maybe that will affect it but I doubt it.
