How often do you change brake pads?

Mine don't squeek but I am on 38K. Seems like I should have had them changed by now.

If it ain't broke - don't fix

If you do not have any vibrations while braking, you could look how much pad there is left of them by inspecting the pad vs. wear guard and it will be a good way to tell if you need to change them or not... I find that mine last me about ~30K including the way I drive...

Just spent $400 on new rear rotors, pads, turned front rotors, and new ceramic pads with only 42k on mine. The rear ones were gone, probably due to towing my dirt bikes on my trailer.... Best thing to do is to have them checked out somewhere.

When I dont feel like taking off the wheels to check the pads, I just shine a flashlight on caliper where the pads sit and can easily see how much the pads have worn. I guess checking pads this way depends on how much space you have between the spokes of the rim.

I'm going to look at mine when I put my winter wheel on (probably this weekend). I have about 30K and I expected them to be worn based on what the looked like when I took my winter wheels off this spring. We'll see. I'd like them to last until spring.

How do you get more out of your fronts than your rears?

Carefull with the "they don't squeek" method of determining wear. Cause mine didn't squeek either then one day started grinding. When i did the breaks i came to find out the sensors had either been cut off or broke off. You should def. check them.

my oems lasted till 20K, my raybestos QS lasted another 20, now im on my third set which is Axxis Metal Masters (worst brakes i've used thus far, squeeks like a biatch), im going back to OEM or Raybestos QS.

My rear rotors tend to wear longer than my fronts.

I just put on my snow tires and the rears have about the thickness of 2 quarters remaining, the fronts about 3 quarters. The rears have about 62K, the fronts about 35K (I put on cross drilled rotors around 30K). I'll probalby replace them all in the spring.

I have to change my rear brakes soon they are grinding and Oh thats so Bad they squeek and all that good stuff 2. But I need to change them soon or im going to be sliding. hehe

Im also just learning about how long the brakes can go before you have to change them out on my Maxima. But pretty soon I might need rotors soon too but wont know until I take the rear brakes off..
