RIP: My 2002 Maxima Totaled (pics)

Well, it looks like it is time to say goodbye to what was a very nice 2002 Maxima. I got t-boned last Tuesday turning left into a shopping center by someone who was ridding in turning lane that no longer was a turning lane at the point I was hit. Trying to get around traffic as many of us do around Atlanta. It looks like his insurance is going to total the car, no suprise by the amount of damage. Fortunately nobody was hurt, I just had a cut on my finger and a sore back. I'm just glad my wife wasn't in the car with me. Here are some pics I took tonight as I went to the tow yard to get my license plate and take my FSTB off the car.

The other driver's insurance company is taking it to a salvage yard, so I'll post when I find out where because I would like to see some of the parts go to Maxima enthusiasts. Right now the car is in Alpharetta, GA. There are many salvageable parts. 3 wheels are perfect, one is busted as you can see. Tails and headlights are in tact. The whole engine is fine and might make a nice swap for someone looking for a 3.5 motor. She had just under 43k miles. I'm assuming the 6 speed in ok. All the parts listed in my sig are still on the car except the FSTB. It is a shame to see her go like this, but I was looking at selling her anyway as I just bought a 93 3000GT VR4 w/44k miles. Since it was leased it may turn out to be a a good thing financially, but I'd rather not have had the experience and have to look at how beat up she is.

I don't see my sig, so my mods that are still on the car are a Silver Weapon R intake, custommaxima test pipe, greedy catback exhaust, cattman short throw shifter.

Man, that's terrible. Glad that you and the other party are both ok. Very happy your wife wasn't in the car with you, could have been quite bad. Good luck with all the insurance details and let us know how things progress with a replacement vehicle and all.

Sorry that had to happen, that sucks man, glad your ok, now lemme be the first to ask IF the trans. is ok, and they get it out, is that even a feasible idea for a swap on an 01 5 speed? The CV's probably have to be changed too right? well just wondering what some options are, take your time with the insurance stuff, theyll try anything to get out of paying you what you deserve

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I figure he was going around 30 or so, and I don't even know if he hit the brakes. He was in a Ford Ranger and the impact on my car was not that low.

Man, that's terrible. Glad that you and the other party are both ok. Very happy your wife wasn't in the car with you, could have been quite bad. Good luck with all the insurance details and let us know how things progress with a replacement vehicle and all.
Right now the replacement is the VR4. I've been driving it since the accident. Once the car is definitely totaled, I'll post where it is going and I'll be looking for a daily driver. I'm looking for something cheap and reliable. Maybe I'll get an early-mid 90s Maxima or Altima. I was thinking something like a Civic, but after being hit I'd like something a little bigger .

She looks good too, I like your rims. It was funny too that I had an appointment that Thursday to have a couple door dings pulled (what is it with people who just don't care about another person's car?!). I called the guy and told him it has a few more, but paintless dent removal won't work for these .

Btw: That Mitsu 3000GT VR4 is insanely f-ing rare and expensive. How the hell did you bag one up? They're also very, very fast (0-60 in 5.1 seconds). In my opinion it's the best car Mitsubishi ever produced, and that is including the EVOs.

Sorry to hear what happened but the important thing is that you're ok. On a side note it is nice to see that the Maxima did its job and protected you from serious injury.

My god, thank goodness you're not hurt.

Is the driver side front suspension intact? I see the the driver side rear suspension is messed up.

I kinda want that shift **** and boot.

Again, thank goodness you're ok!

**** dude i'm glad to hear you're alright. Thankfully i have side airbags in my 02 makes me feel a bit safer. I t-boned a lady in a 93 mustang (her fault though) in my old car and the damage was terrible i am very glad she had no passenger.

My 2002 headlights are fogged up internally so if you are interested in doing a trade of some sort my 02 lights for yours i'd be grateful... let me know

Glad you are okay. I am an EMT in NJ and I see accidents all the time and some of the **** you see even from low speed impacts is impressive. Can't believe how the frame got bent though! Must have been one heavy Ranger!

Ouch Man, people in Atlanta can't drive for sheyat. As long as you are okay that is the only thing that really matters. Cars can be replaced, people can not.
