Ebay intake

Im interested in a Short Ram setup, this one here is about right.

Link

Does anyone have any personal experience with short ram intakes, even better if you have experience with an ebay intake. Will this thing add any kind of gains, from the stickies I get the impression the stock intake is pretty restrictive in the front.

Usually anything from ebay is a POS, but I cant imagine this being any different from a 200 dollar name brand piece.

When you get a 200$ intake-you pay for the NAME, get one from Ebay as they are practically the same, as for the gains- ONLY sound...

P.S. And you better hide before you will get flamed for another intake thread.....Believe me you WILL.

Stock is faster....intake is only good if you have an exhaust otherwise it proves pointless. Although the BWAAAA sound is pretty cool....for a week anyway.

Short ram intake is cool...but you wont get any kind of gain in Hp. The sound is Nice though. What i got is a ebay full intake with a different air filter. maybe i mean maybe i got a 2 hp gain the most

Short ram intake sucks, don't get it.... if you want sound, hack your stock box a little and call it a day. If you want to lose power, then get the short ram!

If you want sound, just take the snorkel off.

because the fastest maximas have custom turbos and v1/v2 superchargers... you cant really use the stock airbox for that.

but if you're talking about the fastest n/a maximas... very seldom do you see someone who has had an intake that still uses it, they all like the throttle response and low end power the stock intake provides...

i have two bottom halves for my stock airbox, one hacked and one regular... I keep the hacked one in normally, I keep the original if i have to sell the car or for some crazy reason bring it to a nissan dealer so they dont look at me and be like

...now if you will excuse me I'm off to PAY for an oil change... stupid snow.

I thought this was established.

If you can cover 1320' in 13.6 seconds on an all motor 3.0L w/o an intake.. be my guest, I'll put my retirement it can't be done.

Most aren't looking for any 3.0L N/A records anymore, but if you like driving around town with good throttle response, and have no intention of covering .25 miles in any respectable amount of time, then we both proved our points, and they're both valid.

That intake will make your car lose torque, stick with the stock one.

Low end torque may be dimished a bit but high end power/passing power is where the intakes usually shine... not always but usually.

get a intake, but I dont know if I would trust that $15 dollar intake from ebay. I have a stillen short ram it was $121 I think. The y look good under the hood and sound good. I never heard of losing power from a aftermarket intake but I could be wrong. Also think about getting a cat back exaust if you do get the intake. Youll be sucking in more air so you want more coming out.

the stock snorkel is the bottle neck. if you open up the lower resonator and use a k&n panel filter you should be fine. the main problem with short ram is the heat soak. this creates lag especially in the summer and in traffic. as far as flow the stillen/jwt has the best. imo the stock resonator is a better choise than the mid pipe in any intake.

go to frankencar.com, get that intake for $210 with an apexi filter and after all the DYNOs that have been tested between all these intakes, from what i've found, this frankencar intake proves HP gain, maybe not significant but ****, what do you expect for $200? 100 extra HP? you know? you pay a little you get a little, like anything in life

Every ebay intake i've bought has been just as good as the big name brand, you go on and spend 5 - 7 times as much for the name bud.

NO! he wants a y pipe to match the intake, not a catback. Ypipe frees up nearly 20hp catbacks just make noise and give maybe 5 hp IF you already have a Y PIPE.

I agree with you dude. Its an intake tube 2.5 feet long. Who cares if the intake pipe is chrome or if it says SKUNK2 right on it. My ebay intake cost 70 bucks and I replaced the filter right away. What quality differences are we talking about here? Cosmetic?? $210 aint worth it, and I don't need Carb certification.

i cant say that you will or wont gain anything, but it is nice piece for the money. i have bought 3 intakes on ebay and my current is like that one. the only downfall is there is no bracket to hold up the filter. it tends to gradually fall down and rattle on the fender, but with a little thought you can make one for about $5. i still don't have a bracket, but i just keep tightening my couplers every two months or so. its not a big deal.

regardless, it will work. it will open your bay a bit more, and be a nice show piece. it will make your car sound deeper and not stock and i think you will like it.

but as for the hp topic, im neutral.

I had a Ram setup on my civic so its not like I dont know what to basically expect. I had an AEM intake so it was a bit different than some EBAY piece. The sound is definetaly a nice + and it helps with shifting because you can hear your engine. I found that on hot and humid days there was a serious power loss due to heat soak but on cold nights there was definetaly a noticeable gain in power. Made it seem like the civic actually had torque, LOL
