little low end power...why?!?!

yeah ive been wondering why my max has little low end power. Anything under 2300rpms suck. I dont have problems with middle or high end. I actually feel a sort of boost once i hit 2700rpm. Can anyone help me out with this? Is this normal?

Yes, I have a GLE as well and that's just how it is. Between ~2700 - ~3700 you will feel that huge pull, then it starts dropping down again. Got my 00VI though, so not for long!

knock sensor, or automatic transmission

When my car was auto, i had no problem breaking the tires loose if I floored it from a stop, but when my knock sensor went bad, it was like a neutered dog. NO power anywhere.

I cant begin to tell you what it is but I don't think its normal. I can shift at about 2500 and still have pretty good pick-up.
Knock sensor, fuel filter, O2 sensor(s), spark plugs, dirty injectors, dirty air filter. Just some things off the top of my head that MIGHT cause this.

The low-end gets worse if you have an aftermarket intake.

yes i do have an auto.

I have already changed fuel filter, spark plugs, cleaned injectors, and i have a new cone filter.

Unfortunately I bought the car with a injen cai...i have since changed it into a short ram. I do not have the stock air box and scoop.

correct me if im wrong but i thought that o2 sensors only affect power during WOT. also ive never heard any knocking but I do get a code sometimes...then i reset it and periodically check it...doesnt come back right away but does eventually. Does this mean im getting knocks or my knock sensor is fudged.

also if it is my o2 sensors...do i have to get new ones or can i just clean them with some denatured alcohol or something?

There's your problem. The Injen is the absolute worst intake available for our cars, especially if your an auto tranny. Good thing you took it out, but your short ram isn't helping you that much. Try to locate a stock intake and put it back on the car. You will feel much better pull in the lower RPM range.

Any aftermarket intake on the auto will cause the lag. Switching aftermarket setups won't help much.

Actually, since none of the guru's have quoted this yet I will.

The whole reason the stock intake is better than any of the others is because of the resonator between the accordian hose and the MAF. It slows the air charge down enough for the air/fuel mixture to atomize more efficiently, thus creating more low end torque.

Do you have a link to where that was originally discussed? It seems that 50 degree cooler air would at least help some? Not saying your wrong, I just want more evidence

resonator?? Is this the square looking thing that the hoses connect to? If so I already am using that in my short ram. I went to the junk yard like 3 months ago.

Yes. It's the square looking thing before your MAF sensor.

So if I have a short ram intake w/ cone filter, and have the resonator, am i still losing low end torque? It really doesn't feel like it.

Some argue whether its better to use the stock box, the stock box hacked, or the cone filter- I personally like the cone.
