on my 2002 auto, i noticed that my car shifts wierd and feels like slippage. is the sudden feelin of this due to the cold temps, cuz before weather got cold it was (im sure) normal. i warm it up for like 5 mins and still feels like that. btw i have 55k on my max so i need to find out before 60k warranty. and do you think i should bring it to the dealer??? thanx!!!

 

Definitely take it to the dealer before 60k! Was told last week that my shifting problem (delayed shifts and slight slippage from 2nd to 3rd on my automatic) is likely due to a problem with the solenoid pack. There is a service bulletin for it and it is NOT covered if the car is more than 5ys old (since manufature date or past 60k)..... and mine is at 64k.

Since its been doing this more noticeably lately after temps started dropping and the fluid just got changed, I got it checked at a tranny shop for another opinion and they found a lot of shavings inside so I'm now looking at a tranny overhaul due to prematurely worn clutch parts (about $2500).

Get it looked at or you'll end up in my position. I'm debating now about fixing it vs trading it in.

 

Mine shifts funny too until the tranny warms up to normal operating tempature, the manual says to drive at least 5 miles. On the COLD mornings that could take longer. Letting it warm up for 5 min. while not moving doesn't do much for the tranny. If the tranny shifts fine after it warms up then your probably fine. Get out there and stomp on it after it's warm and see what happens. If it acts funny then take it in to the stealer.

 

i just found out that my car has probably never had a tran fluid change. if i change it will it be normal and should i add lucas when i have it done?
