I got a LOT of transmission fluid on my cement garage floor. It left a stain about 5 feet in diameter.

Here is what I've done so far:

1. Bought some of that kitty litter type absorbent stuff to absorb the moisture.

2. Then I used "Purple Power" Driveway cleaner and scrubbed with a heavy duty push brush.

3. Then I used Kerosene fuel and scrubbed it as well.

I let garage air out over night... there is still a very visible dark stain from the transmission fluid on the ground. (My dad is about to kill me). Any tips on how to get this crap up? Maybe gasoline? Kerosene normally does the trick when I get little oil drops on the ground, but this transmission fluid is really leaving a mark.

Yeah, acid is probably going to be your best bet.

That TSP might be the stuff you're talking about.

 

That sux that it left a stain... When doing my flush I disconnected the wrong side of the return line and pumped out a quart or two all over the garage floor (and my face). I just wiped it up and left it at that. There is no stain today.

Anyway, acid etching is prolly the best way to go if nothing else has worked.

That's what I did... I think the How-To needs to be updated to specify which line needs to be pulled off. When facing the front of the car, it's the hose on the left (the one on the passenger side) that needs to be pulled off the radiator.

When I disconnected the hose on the driver side, it freaking sprayed at least 2-3 quarts on my garage floor and that's why I've got the stains now. =(

 

Put something over it. Maybe a carpet.

I would not make a big deal about it, it will go away on its own...

If your dad is pissed... use the tried and true method of deflecting blame!

Tell him that if he cared so much, he would have had the floor sealed and this would have never been a problem.

But really, it will go away on its own, dont kill yourself trying to get rid of it. Your dad will cool off and it will go away.
