Replacing brakes advice?
Replacing brakes advice?
When I changed my rear brakes I used generic pads I bought from Advanced Auto, my question is now that I need to change the front can I use the same? Kinda short on money and I want to change them asap before my rotors are ruined..
HE means he doesnt complete in SCCA SOLO II Autocross events.....and u can use any kind of pads u want.....some may squeak...some may create more dust....some may stop better but NISSAN arnt the only pads to use....i use Hawk HPS but i autocross...front and rear pads dont have to match.....now i wouldnt replace one side with a different naem that the other but front to back is ok.....just make sure u get carbon or ceramic those are the best
You can have different pads in the front and rear or use the same brand all around, but replace them in pairs (if replacing the front, replace both of the front ones - if replacing the rear, replace both of the rears)
I got Morse ceramic pads (AutoZone) in the front and Wagner ThermoQuiet in the rear
People have complained about little squeaks and stuff from non-Nissan pads so that's why they recommended Nissan ones (which are around $50 I think - not the Nissan "KeyValue" junk). Aftermarket pads are fine - just take your time doing the install (mine don't make any noises - used to squeak before replacing the rears)

I have one more question. I know that when brake pads need to be replaced they make the high pitch scraping noise to let you know. The thing is that when I owned my Honda the noise was never this loud and I was able to drive for at least a week before changing them with no damage to my rotor.
The sound coming from my Maxima is horribly loud and it started so suddenly. I wont have the money to get them them changed for a few days and my friend who was supposed to help me do it had to leave town and I have no tools. Will I be ok driving for a few more days?

Nevermind I just used the how to guide from the forums and did it myself, borrowed some tools from the neighbor. The rotors were a little scraped up but the brakes work great still. The usual nose that I've always had from braking is gone now, thanks anyhow...
