looking fo simple but effective way to disable my Max->
Need a little help. I am leaving on Vacation for 2 weeks or so. Unfortunatly not taking my Maxima, taking the 4-Runner instead. My son (19) hasn't learned the meaning of the words "Leave it parked" yet. I want to pull a fuse or plug that will disable her so he can't easily fix and drive her, but easy to fix on my return. He swears he does not have a key, I know better.BTW he is not very mechanically inclined. Thanks.
look under the hood
find the relays(under black plastic pieces) next to battery, in front of battery or on passenger side of engine bay
find one that says starter or something to that effect and pull it; then put the cover back on and he'll have no idea; then come back and just plug the relay back in to make it work
I'm not sure exactly which one, just try a few til it works

Craig's dead-on on that one. Just pull the fuse covers and relays out that deal with the starter AND the ECU.
If he's REALLY desperate and knows you disabled the starter, he could push start it with a little help.. thus the ECU plug oughta be pulled too..
If you don't mind killing your clock and radio presets, just yank all the fusible links (small 4" wires in the red plug on the battery connector).. I don't know if that will do the starter and ECU, but it will at least kill all the interior power, so he may think the car's dead.

Naw fuses are too easy.
I would probably pull the connector that signals the coils to fire or disconnect the wire that enables the starter solenoid. That's pretty hard to see and you would have to know what you are doing to catch it. Or maybe pull the ignition connector that goes to the key solenoid. Just tuck it up in the steering column somewhere.

Craig is at the top of his game isn't he? That is a good idea and I plan on doing that myself. It will prevent my brother from stealing my car to go cruisin' in all the friggin' time. If he would put some gas back in, I wouldn't gripe so much.

it works in preventing my dad from taking my car out when I sleep-in in the morning
also, even if someone where to somehow get a copy of the key and disarm the stock alarm, they still couldn't start it=)
unless they saw my website, oh well
