You guys are making 500whp on that?! That looks like the same size as a QR25DE rod! The piston has a very thin top ring land too.. I think I'll be building the engine before putting it back together..

They're thin but they get it done. A few people have bigger rods in the vq30, but the majic is using the vq35 and the parts made for the 350z.

Hey I got some custom Arias pistons ill sell yea for the VQ30 very stout and nice.

I was surprised at how small the rods are... the other thing is the small diameter rod bearings.. a smaller bearing is more prone to spin under a big load.. or high RPM. I know the rod/stroke ratio is good.. but still.. the rods are TINY! I guess I could toss in the stock block, and see what it'll hold.. I have a few VQ30's sitting here anyway..

I've had a TON of problems with Arias.. in the past year, we had 4 sets of pistons with problems due to manufacturing. I've switched to CP.. and haven't looked back. I was trying to avoid building a block.. but if I have to I will do it eventually.

I always figured that since the power is divided up on 6 pistons/rods instead of 4 that each one sees less load therefore making the skinny rod less of an issue. Is this theory correct? By this thinking then a V8 would be just that much better, even if the displacement was the same.

Scrawny rods and thin piston ring lands (relatively speaking) are really only a problem if you have detonation issues. Avoid detonation and you can get away with a lot.

Yeah I was amazed to see they were skinny when I dropped my Upper-Oil Pan. You would think they would bend easily under boost.

Heck, they are still strong considering the size. They almost look Forged a bit.

Nissan sure may durable motors.

+1 to that look at all the guys that crack the ford 302 block in half with stock internals its proboly the most common problem once over 500whp mark on a good tune
