offered insane deal on 06 part 2

That price represents the lowest possible dealer cost for any Maxima. You say they offered to you a Maxima for $23,300, or $1,313 less than dealer cost? It doesn’t make sense.

Was it a new car? Did you actually drive it? What was the sticker price? A lot of times, aggressive dealerships will lowball customers with the hope they return. Mathematically, this deal should not work. Don’t your hopes up. Be suspicious. I think they are playing with you.
well edmonds is accurate but edmonds is not the car dealer. i used to be a car salesman so i know a few inside tricks to negotiatiating and a few thaings edmonds may not. being on the other side of the table i know what got me exited as a sales man and what to listen for. but i basically played stupid all the way to the end, then it came down to rock bottom numbers and i stood my ground, and made sure the 23300 was without any other bs like destination (600 buks) yes people destinatioin is BS big BS? or dealer prep charges.

and the car is base, meaning is a basic se, only option is a 300 factory spoiler. so invoice is 25373 (supposed dealer cost but not really) plus 300 spoiler...256373 minus 1000 factory rebate were at 24673 so for 23300 is a good deal, i think it could even be a few hundred less! but im not sure i really want the car or like it enough, i mean its just so big, i sat in it and felt lost.

Wow. I will happily admit that I am wrong if it saves you money. However I would still be suspicious. The 2007s are still nine months away. There is no reason a dealer has to sell a car for $1,300 below cost now. It makes no sense. Its not even like this is the end of the month and the dealership is willing to forgo profit just to make their sales numbers look good. I hope you are right, but I still say they are playing with you. If you buy it, be sure to let us know

i really dont think ill buy it, its weird cause i love the car up to the moment i gotta sign papers, just afraid to commit for so long, and something is just not right about the interior to me.

but ill tell you guys y dealers can afford to "seemingly" loose money on a deal...there is of course the reatail, invoice and sometimes rebate (1k in this case). we think the dealer buys the car from nissan for invoise price, NOT SO! the dealer actually finances the cars from nissan through a bank for well below invoise, the difference is the "holdback" or more. that becomes the min amount the dealer has to make (min profit). this profit is ALWAYS MADE!!! its different for different dealers, usually around 1000 dollars (but ranges from 400-5000 depending on make. so, because the dealer finances the cras through a bank they are actually paying daily intrest on cars, hence they always wanna sell whats in stock to get rid of it and not pay intrest! and by the way the salesman always gets a bonus if u take a car home the same day!

now that the dealer made their min amount (while most of us think they lost $1300) this is only the front end of the deal! the real money is made in the back, the FINANCING! here is where people really get screwd while thinking they got a great deal...this part is a bit complicated and long to explain.

and of course the end of the month is not to make thier munber just look good but actually be good. when most dealers reach thier factory target number they get an extra bonus from the factory, for example if they hit 100 for the month nissan gives the dealership an extra 500 per car sold!

there are so many things to profits in a dealership and im sure i dont know them all, if anyone has questions please ask, hope this helps evryone, maybe i should write up how to buy a car sticky?

The interior is different no doubt about it. I honestly feel this car was designed from the interior out. The space inside is massive and open. It feels very comfortable and less like a typical car where you're enveloped by the dash and console. For my wife and me, that was a selling point because the other cars we tested felt tight and a bit confined, and we're not large people by any means. But the Maxima had us sold. The exterior isn't as pretty as a Honda or Toyota, but then again, where do you sit when you drive a car?

Sure, give us some pointers. I know how to wheel and deal on cars, but not sure what to look for on the invoices ( the secret stuff). I am aware of the "holdbacks," plus they get dealer money (a percent of some sort). I am actually in the process of purchasing a M35X, but they are not budging too much. I know these cars are in high demand, but still....they are making a fortune!

well make sure u got at least 3-4 dealers, dont tell them what others offered u untill the very very end of negotiation, sell the sales guy, dont let him sell u. to start off try to find a young sales person, they younger and less exp the better, they are usually much more eager to make a deal. also good thing to do is tell him ur looking at other cars as well (comparable car cheaper than the m35) tell him how nice the other car is and that its cheaper. give them a number that u wanna pay and stick to it, budge only a little when there is no choice. if u are negotiation less than one hour u are not doing ur job. and dont worry about the invoise and behind the scene stuff, playing stupid is the best thing u can do! hope this helps

Holdback is the $ that manufacturers let dealers play with to pay with their M&O. Dealers can choose to give it up, but not many do. It is about 1.5-2% of cost.

Believe me, if you got it, you will never say that I should never have gotton this car.
I've had my 05 sl for about 5 months and still get the same feeling everytime I am around her.
Just do it.

Man, I need to go back to a Honda and Toyota dealer to double-check what you're talking about ????? Last time I check, the only thing I would spend about two seconds looking at are the Tacoma, the S2000 and the new Civic. But none of them are to compare w/ my Max. The rest...zzzzz

I just bought me a base max with floor mats, splash guards and rear spoiler (just about base) for $24715 with freight included after the $1500 rebate. I am not complaining at all and happy with my deal, 6 speed manual.

I bought my 06 in Octoboer for about 23,500. Cars are not selling very due to the economy, they will deal.

On another note I loves this car! I had an 05 Altima first and hated it

hmm well....... i agree with this guy on many views......... most of these young car salesmen are impatient want-to-close idiots......... i spotted mine as soon as i walked in the door....... and being that i work for T-Mobile..... a salesman is a salesman...... i told him i was interested in the altima (was just a cover up) and ended up getting my max....... 04 SE, mint leather interior with new tires.......... 30K miles with the 7yr extended warrenty $18,750 oh yeah....... and i TOTALLY agree about the financing part...... everything you talk about with you front end rep goes out the door when you speak to the person on the back-end......... still got them to bend over though....... and got a 6.1 APR over a 5 year term............ dont let them fool you ....... they are not "giving" you anything
