Thanks junior. But if I can't drive fast in the middle of the desert with no other cars around, maybe I should just buy a scooter.

alright, then if you can't even drive safely with noone else around you, i'd be scared to see what would happen on a crowded freeway... just sayin.

31 years old and still drivin like a 16 year old? c'mon...

you and other statistics are the reasons why my insurance won't drop to a reasonable rate till i'm 55.

245/45R18s will effectively lengthen your gearing, robbing you of a bit of acceleration. Stock SE tires are 64.3cm high, whereas 245/45R18s are 67.8cm high. That's about a 3.48cm difference, which is about a 5.5% increase in gearing, you might want to go a little lower profile or a little narrower, or just hope that you have really lightweight wheels to soften the blow, but it's obviously not THAT big of a deal.

IIRC, an 8.5" wide rim and 245s are a bit on the wide side for 4th gens, but I believe someone managed to fit 265s under the fenders. My guess is that you might have "scraping" issues under hard cornering, Akumachan has 245/45R17s with Eibachs (like 1.7" front, 1.5" rear drop I think) and his tires seem like they actually hit the wheelwells. This might be able to be solved by rolling the fenders, and he does have a BBK and some spacers under there I believe, so it might be a different story for you.

Can't provide you with much more info than that though, sorry.

If he's using a stock strut, they're gonna blow... 2" drop ain't exactly trivial.

Said he got some illuminas.

Well, it doesn't seem like your judgment is flawless but illuminas are about the best strut you can buy before coilovers. I paired mine with S-techs and I've got about a 2" drop and it's pretty level too. Not sure how a pair of 18s will fit but given the above measurements and looking at how mine sits, it should fit...

the tallest profile you can get without rubbing issues on your car is a 40 series tire with lowering springs. especially with illumina's since they allow more travel than a non - adjustable strut. the 45 series tire, even if it didnt rub, will also make it much harder for you to stop ( i had them on my car for a week). if your looking to retain some sort of stock ride quality, you made a bad move buying 18" rims. everything you change, will affect your ride. they all play there own part. i will highly suggest you go with h&r springs, since they are only 30% stiffer than stock, as apposed to the 50% most others are.

Thanks for all of the legit feedback. Sounds like I will get a set of H&R springs and some 40 series tires. I know that I am going to lose some of my comfort with the 18" rims but they look real nice. I really enjoyed my stock Max, I have had it since new that way. I have really contemplated buying a new G35 but I really am attached to this girl.

As for you who are complaining aboiut my SPEED, youi would hate to know about the 140 I pulled on highway 2 in Eastern Washington.

What are you talking about? I think you are woofing up the wrong tree. I think that I would have to actually be in the Army to have a first sergent, aka 'daddy'. So sorry to dissapoint. And furthermore, I am 6'4" 280lbs and am not afraid of anyone. So unless you mean that you are planning on comming over to help me install the struts I bought, stand down boy.
