Has anyone used Det cans for tuning?

Interested in buying the device but no luck searching on Google... only came up with a few relevant results:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=det+cans

Do anyone know where to get it? Not interested in the Snap On version because it's too bling for me (couldn't find it on their site anyway).

No one interested in listening for knock that devices can't pick up?

Knock sensing devices do not pick up knock all the time, or cannot process it as fast as a human can. The device has to listen to close to the correct frequency to actually pick up knock, which changes with mods especially adding a turbo to an N/A car. Even high quality knock sensors might be "off."

I've used Det cans at local tuning shops to listen to knock while the car is being dynoed, but I want to purchase one because I often road tune the car. I have a device that logs knock voltage but it's hard to watch the road while looking at the laptop for voltage spikes. With Det cans, I can quickly let off the throttle if my piggyback doesn't retard timing quick enough.

Doing 25-26 psi (stock is 20.5) and advanced timing leaves little room for mistake(s) while tuning.

You could use a PLX R500 to listen for knock.....

I'm already using the LM-1 with RPM convertor to log knock voltage and I will soon have the ECU+ hooked up, which also logs knock voltage and timing.

The R500 has an audio jack, so you can wear headphones while you tune.

Same with the LM-1's RPM converter.

My bad, it doesn't. The audio jack is for something else.

The funny thing is the R500 knock features seem to really only work well on the EVO.....

The audio jack is for the inductive clamp (RPM signal).

There are lots of devices that work well for the Evo. Many of the logging devices/piggbacks don't have the ability to take enough samples of knock per second.
