Knockin noise near passenger side...

What the hell could it be?? .. it was way loud driving it down the block, coming from the passanger side wheels (possibly just the rear passenger wheel) ..so didnt drive it again till this morning to head to the shop but it wasnt as loud this time and the knocking just faded. so the shop says they wanna hear the sound so they know what i could be ... what do you guys think could be causing this temporary knocking noise that has occured for the 2nd time already. shop says it could be the rotors?? i have Slotted/X Drilled Brembo rotors - OEM size ...

not even when i hit bumps ... just while rolling 15-20 mph. it was a consistent and timely knock (last night).. this morning it wasnt that loud while driving/rolling ...eventually the noise stopped 5 mins later.

It sounds like it's coming from the suspension? Like a clunk?

nah really dont think its the suspesion .. i have pretty smooth roads by my house ... but uumm i can say its more like a thumping sound .. i mean what could possibly make contact with each other to make ANY noise in that that area? calipers ...rotor... ?? bad rotor perhaps?? i would think if thats the case then it would be a noise all the time.

I've heard that the rear calipers can lock up. Perhaps that is your problem. Jack it up, take the wheel off and see if there is enough gap between the pad and rotor. If not, the calipers may need replacing.

Very possible ..i was thinking of gettin a brake kit or 6th gen upgrade ... so u think i should just replace that one rear before it gets worse or is that something that can wait out. ?

Don't replace it unless you need to. If you can prove that it's locking up (I am no mechanic so I can't tell) then replace it. Maybe someone with more mechanical experience can chime in.

EDIT: Gimme a sec., I'll search and see if I can find anything.

Excellent... thanks now i know what to tell the shop to look for .. as a matter of fact looking at the rear pads ...one of the pads is completely against the rotor (while parked ).

I replaced my struts, strut mounts, and stabilizer end links and a couple of weeks later I had a clunking noise coming from the lower passenger side wheel area. With the car parked I bounced the driver side up and down and could hear the clunk. I had a friend repeat this while I looked under the passenger side and saw the end link (the part that connects to the lower control arm had come loose enough to side up and down and was the source of the noise. I suggest if you replace the end links that you place a floor jack beneath the control arm and jack it up a little before you replace install the end link. The reason is that the place where the end link bolt attachs to the control arm is a slot not a hole. The 2nd time around I place the bolt at the bottom of the slot as I though this would be the general condition with the wheel on and the car pressing on the ground. Hopefully It doesn't come loose again.
