Problem with digital climate control bulbs :(

I have had a burned light bulb on my digital climate control unit. So this morning I decided to open it and take out the bulb. I took out the bulb and went to couple places and nobody has it for sale ( Radio Shack, Auto Zone, Pep Boys etc.). Then I decided to put it back till tomorrow when I will go back to dealer to buy it. After I put everything in place I realized that now all of the bulbs on the unit are not working and I did not touch them at all WHY is that What should I do? What is the reason now all of the bulbs are not working. The unit works and you can adjust the temperature etc. but when you turn the lights on it does not light up anyomore. Does the dealer sell the bulbs separately??? thank you.

That same thing happened when a shop installed my headunit. All of the bulbs burned out for one reason or another. There's a thread just a little bit down this page about these bulbs, and how Nissan won't sell just the bulbs, unless these are different from the rear defroster bulb.

Link: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=453246

I was told I could buy the climate control ones seperately from Nissan, so I really don't know what to tell you.

I had one go out in my electronic climate control recently. Those bulbs seem to be very sensitive to being bumped around when removing/reinstalling the radio/climate control unit. Anyway, I went to the dealer and bought a replacement bulb. They are not cheap at the dealer (cost me CAD $8.00 for one bulb), but of course they will sell them to you. It seems a bit unusual if all of your bulbs went out at once. I guess you could check the individual bulbs with an ohm meter to confirm if they are bad.

The bulbs for the climate control are available as seperate items..

P/N:28529-0P000

I blew all 4 of mine changing out my headunit... I suppose if I had disconnected the negative terminal of the battery that probably wouldn't have happened

I think there is always power going to the climate control - since it remembers the last set temperature... and something funny that I found was that even with the car off, I can press the temp up/down buttons and then when I turn the car on, the temp has actually changed (i.e. from when I pressed the buttons while it was actually off).

When I asked this same question, he said $4 per bulb. They are just another thing I need to go to Nissan for.

Same thing happened to me. One bulb burned out, I opened it up, and they all burned out. Bulbs from my dealer were $7/ea. I was not going to pay $28 for small light bulbs. Radio Shack does not have the same bulbs (no one seems to have them), but you can get ones that work fine (that's what I did). I don't recall the part number, but they look similar, just a little smaller. Two bulbs were about $1.50. The blue condoms will not fit over these bulbs, so you have to use just a little bit of glue to hold it in place. Do this and save yourself $25.

Yes. I got them from Jerry Rome for 16 bucks including shipping. That was the time Jerry Rome used to offer really good discounts..

Here's another place with similar prices and only 1.99 for ground shipping

http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?pn=2...x=0&submit.y=0

I would not recommend paying 7 bucks a bulb at your local dealer

Yeah but if you buy 4 bulbs on that website it is $12.95 plus $8.95 shipping for 4 bulbs. That is like $5 cheaper than dealer but I would have to wait for a week for bulbs to be shipped and the car is appart thank you for the link.

I don't know how to solder and I don't have a big knowledge how to do it. I would pay someone to do it for me but it would take time to ship the unit etc. I think these bulbs last aproximately 10 years (at least they did in my car) and the car will not last that long so I will just get them thank you.

Finally - someone who uses a little logic.

I'm not saying using LEDs is the wrong way of doing things, but given that the bulbs last 10 yrs, spending 20 bucks to replace them should hardly be something to fuss about.

Do whichever way works for you.

I don't have a photo, but I'll try to describe them:
They have small brown housings (plastic) that hold the actual bulb. The bulb has a blue rubber condom on it. The entire bulb/holder assembly twists into place (i.e thats how it is held in). I doubt that it's the same bulb in the defroster.

If you post a pic of the defroster bulb I can tell you for sure

No they are not the same bulbs. I have oppened my defroster switch and they are different. The ones from the defroster are NOT available separately to buy from stealership but what I did I is I went to junk yard and found couple maximas and took out the bulbs for free

Not at this point I replaced both the hazard and defroster bulbs but as soon as it gets nicer outside I could maybe find one at the dealership.

Which ones did you buy exactly? And these will work? Post up pics after the install - I'm interested to see if it's the same light output. Are you going to put the blue condoms on there too?

Does anyone have a pic, because mine have been out and ive never had time to replace them. Those LEDs definitely look like a good alternative.
