Strange sounds (like lots of little rocks hitting car) after car starts

After I start my car and just START driving, I often hear this sound on both sides in the front of my car. It sounds like a lot of little rocks hitting the front side doors of my car - as if I was driving on a rocky dirt road. The sound only lasts for about 10 seconds or so.

Anyone have any idea what it is? I'm guessing its just the front springs adjusting after sitting in one position for a long time?

Maybe it's your flex section. I'm having problems with my AFTERMARKET Y pipe and it's the flex section portion, not exactly sure how it goes bad tho...

Do you park in mud or dirt, or where they have salted/sanded for snow, and then drive away on smooth concrete? It could be that (duh), but I'm sure you already know...

My BMW with Yokohama ES100's does this. They are actually little rocks. My tires get hot, I pull into a parking spot, and all the little pebbles glue themselves to my hot tires. Then the tires cool, and as I drive away they all fly off.

Fair enough... I just got the car and wanted to make sure it wasn't something potentially more serious.
