Currently installing aftermarket head unit with ROEM-NIS2

Basically I hooked it all up, I found similar information in this thread:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....oto=nextnewest

And I didn't hook up any of the low level (+) speakers but I had ALL of the other cables hooked up except for the blue one (power antanna), b/c my head unit doesn't have a blue cable.

So I plugged it all in, and my front right speaker started clicking after I connected the car battery, I also tried to turn on the stereo and some of the lights on the head unit were blinking quite strangely (not at ALL normal).

So I disconnected it, plugged int the bose head unit and it worked fine. Anyone have any ideas as to why I was having issues with the aftermarket? I checked over the wires and its wired correctly.

Thanks!
Josh

Man instead of making 298347982374 threads abotu the same thing:

1) combine them,
2) ask in the appropriate forum (audio and electronics)

there were only 3 gosh!! :P :P

I made them separate to ease the "searching" vs. 3 questions in one thread, b/c they were different issues

I know it works now, but I'm curious...

Did you have the frame that holds the radio bolted in when you attempted to use the aftermarket radio the first time around?

No I didn't bolt it in at first, I just wired it up adn set the aftermarket head unit on my chair... Which unfortunately didn't work, so I had to have it serviced (CD eject was broken :/)

When I get it back (March 8th) I'm going to take pictures of while I'm doing the install and post a guide on here

Not bolting it in was your problem. That is why it didn't work. The tiny little ground wire isn't enough to ground the headunit, so it wouldn't work properly. I made the same mistake.

Weird, at first it screwed up, then the second time it worked fine w/o grounding it by screwing the wire in...

I just tightened all the wires, set it on my seat again, and it worked, was so strange... Too bad I have to wait til march 8th to get the damn head unit back, slow *** best buy service plan
