Just to let you guys know...I have an auto tranny and I experience hard 1-2 shifts...almost like with the drop resistor mod but a bit tamer.

so two days ago i was driving around kinda rough...I was kinda bored. So I was repeatedly flooring the throttle and kinda playing around when at one point I was going about 40-45 and the tranny down shifted to 2nd. A couple seconds later while going about 60-70 I realized some burning smell...I dont know if it was me or some other car but I got scared. I slowed down and at the next light took it easy and i let the tranny shift through all the gears at about 2.5k rpms. I noticed that the hard shifts from 1-2 were completely gone!!! the tranny shifted so smoothly...but after I turned the car off for like 20 minutes the hard shifts came back.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?

 

yeah man i have the same problem! my tranny shifts terribly! i just flushed my transmission and added a cleaner into it, but havent noticed anything yet (that was two days ago). some days it will shift nicely, but others it shifts soo hard like it jerks the car kinda when it shifts. if you find anything out, definitely let me know, and ill do the same for you!!

 

Maybe somethings lose. That resistor thats you do the drop resistor mod with, the harness or plug may need to be replaced.

 

My tranny seems to shift hard also, but it's been doing that since i got it at 140k. It now has 169k, some times it shift hard and sometimes really smooth.. Guess as long as it shifts we should be happy? Hope someone figures it out
