Wow...is this the first SC'ed 3.5L-swapped Maxima? I know MardiGrasMax is turbocharged but I can't recall any supercharged ones...

Hope all goes well!

2.87 pulley is 12 psi, right? Make sure you have giant tires up front.

And to think I like to believe my N/A one pulls.

I don't think John@J&S sells this as an option, it sounds more like a custom piece.

How are you getting around the timing chain cover issue?

Hes using a 3.0 liter timing chain and cover, so therefore he can use the 4th gen supercharger braket and get away with it.

Chris,

Make sure you take some shots of the work while in progress.

My friend TJ Max told me this a while back at how I could make the sc kit from a 4th gen work on my 5.5, I think I might be going to him for more resources...

You have to remove the VTC pullys, which means your ECU would at a minimum throw a CEL. Not sure about limp mode, etc..

It is easy to run a VQ35 w/VQ30 timing equipment/cover off a 4/5.0 gen ECU, but 5.5gens will have complications to figure out.

Keep us posted. I hope it goes well for you.

Also, you should make alot more that 350... I did that on my setup and you are getting 1/2 a liter more space.

Is the timing chain cover the only thing holding back aftermarket manufacturers from making a supercharger kit for the 5.5 gen? If someone like vortech made one I would be all over that shiznit

what do i mean? i mean tthat the vq35 have vtc on both sides. yes you could remove them and put the vq30 tming parts on but then you will get a code and the engine might go into limp mode.

So, it is possible to remove the VTC and still run the SC on the VQ35 timing cover?

No, that's why he was correct...nobody wants to make a new bracket that fits the VQ35 timing cover.

the vtc is more of a problem then the stupid timing cover. and its not a bracket that needs to be made. did you ever see how a sc is bolted on a
vq30? the closest sc i can see working is the sc from hks for the 350z

Just in pictures....

If they make a bracket that holds the SC, then 5.5gens are in business.

The VTC function doesn't matter.

Piece of advice: change the piston rings while you have it apart. As some of you know, my 3.5 burns as much oil as it does gas. Pretty sure it's the rings, byt I haven't torn it down yet.

i'm sure most VQ35 owners don't sit in the parking lot at meets and go to the car and start it just to rev it up every 5 minutes.
