Hood hits wiper arms

anyone have a better clue than me as to why my wiper blade sit low and get caught on the hood when I open the hood?
I've seen it on other maxs (maroon one I thinkhad the same issue).
I just don't like trying to lift my hood and getting it caught on my wiper arms

Someone did a bad job of replacing them? Should be able to unbolt them and adjust back to normal.

I hadn't thought about that. I don't think the "gentleman" who looked at it with me did either.

1. unbolt
2. rotate out of way
3. drive down freeway with wipers straight up and down, because you put them up to far, and they got caught in the wind, and your linkage broke
4. ????
5. profit????

I had the same problem and had to adjust mine to sit higher. It's pretty annoying though. I think there is some kind of plastic mechanism underneath which wears out over time...I recall reading about it in one of the threads.

i've had this problem with two different max's. the one common link between these was they shared the same hood. it doesn't seem logical that the hood would have clearance probs, so i must conclude this is a common problem with these wiper arm mechanisms. the driver's side wiper arm has about 3" of play in either direction. it could be useful to find what piece has worn down between the wiper motor and the blade.

I say you sell the car and get a new one since this one is showing signs that it needs repair

its not the hood its the piovit points for the wipers. the plastic wears out and allows the wipers to bend more than they should. I have this problem with my passanger one. To temp solve this i move the wiper up so the hood clears it. The only way to fix this is to replace the pivot points.

Get her a Highlander, she'll love it more. That's how I got the wife to give up my Max.

The way you go through Maximas... I figured a high price item would cause you too keep it for longer than 6 months.
